Puff's tissue box designs...so ugly!

Those aren't ugly to me :confused3. And I'm kind of picky if the box is going to show. I avoid ones that are pastel and super floral-y that look like they're remnants from the 1970s.

I don't mind them. Yeah, they're not my choice for design but I don't think they're truly ugly.

At Christmas I cover my pop-up Puff's tissues with special "kleenex covers" my Mom stitched with plastic canvas. :)

I have those cover ups, too!!:thumbsup2

Box design? What box design?

I want one! How did you make this if you don't mind?

Basically using the instructions found here: http://blog.kanojo.de/2011/01/05/geek-ish-tissueboxes/

DH did all the woodworking parts since that's his hobby. I did the artsy parts with the colored papers. It came out good, but I think if I ever did another one, I might not use the papers but I might paint it instead.

You can also find plenty of instructions online to make them out of yarn and plastic mesh, but I just didn't care for those.

 OR one can just buy an unfinished tissue box and start painting away. I used to teach a "faux finishes" painting class and the students painted a wooden tissue box. The model is somewhere deep in storage or I'd snap a picture of it.

People can buy the unfinished wooden boxes here:

Paper mache Boutique cube: http://www.woodcrafter.com/bxp812.aspx

Wooden Boutique cube: http://www.woodcrafter.com/bx503boutiquetissuebox.aspx

Other sizes: http://www.woodcrafter.com/tissueboxes.aspx

Also, instead of using colored papers for the Rubics cube, I'd use a 1" foam brush to paint on individual colors. If yo are going to go to the effort to make this, you want it to last, not have the papers peel off in 6 months. 2oz bottles of acrylic paint can be bought at craft stores for less than $2/per bottle. If you get acrylic enamel paint, it is already glossy. (Buy the black in regular flat acrylic.)

Use blue painters tape to mask off straight lines & squares. Or get very thin automotive pinstriping tape, to cover up the black lines once they are painted down. Then paint the individual squares. This should be a 3 hour project, or less, with all the taping.

That's so funny. I saw the title of this thread and thought "there's no way they are talking about the most recent design, they're great!" And then I looked at the picture and it is... :lmao: I have a bunch of those different prints around our house right now. I didn't buy them because of the print, but because I had a coupon. I can't imagine having such hate towards a kleenex box print though :rotfl:

I know I'm in the minority, but I truly LIKE the tissue boxes. I like anything that looks somewhat geometric, simple or complex. :goodvibes

I like those designs, but I don't match the tissue to the rooms anyways. We have a box cover in the bathroom, but that's as far as I care about matching the tissue. I'm staring at a neon green floral box on my desk right now. It's definitely not a match to the decor of this room.

I just check to see if it has aloe or not - if it has aloe, I won't buy it. Otherwise, I use what it on sale, and buy in bulk, so that I don't have to think about it again for a while.

I like those designs, and the plain grey is good with anything if someone doesn't.

However, as many have noted - tissue box covers are the answer if you don't.

Since I generally can't find the box of tissues when I need it, I usually end up usin the toilet paper to blow my nose.

Problem solved!

I'm in the "I don't care what the boxes look like" group.

We can easily go through a box of tissue every 2 days for our family of 3 when allergy season & sinus season hits. Which is soon.

I grab the boxes and we go from there.

I would soooo use Cornflake's tissue cover!!

Heh, they're widely available. The first time I saw it I had to have one. They're not really expensive either (like $20 ish).

The standing one is a Maori head (holds a standard rectangular box), the flat is an Easter Island head. Search either of those with tissue and you'll find them. :)

I do that too. Then I run out of toilet paper way too quickly. :headache:

I always choose the nicest boxes of the ones that are available and/or on sale. I kind of like the ones in the OP. :confused3 Most of the ones in our house have some sort of cover tho.

I like Trader Joe's tissues. Here are all the sides. :)

Thank you! Just ordered one for my son's (he of the perpetual allergies) next care package
