Winn Dixie is closest. I don't have a preferance to either, and both are well stocked. We shop at Super Walmart or Sams

I thought that Publix was on the way from MCO to WDW? Do I have a choice? Is there also a Winn-Dixie nearby?

There is a Winn Dixie about 1 mile from Crossroads Square.
As to you having a choice, I have no idea.

We use to always go to Publix.. until the Winn-Dixie opened. However, both are comparable in pricing/selection.

Winn-Dixie has the 'savings card' you can sign up for.. and it is close to Disney.

Either one is great though... beats getting gouged at Goodings!

Thanks for starting this thread. How are Winn-Dixie and Publix for pre-made foods? Anything good you'd recommend? Even though we have the kitchen at OKW, we have no plan to 'really cook'. But would like to have a few pre-made salads, pizzas, entrees, etc, for convenience.
Thanks.

I agree with SEaWitch's response.

Easy in and out of the WD.

As far as prepackage foods go, we didn't buy any of that.

I think they had deli chicken, salads, usual sandwiches,. tho.

herc.

As far as pre-packaged stuff. Of course, they are grocery stores - so they have frozen entrees, pizzas, etc.

Both Winn-Dixie & Publix did have pre-made salads (near the Deli sections if I recall).. our family LOVES Greek salads and last year we bought a really nice "family sized" salad at WinnDixie. We also bought a 'fresh' pizza (is that what you call it? ;) )
(the non-frozen ones you pop in the oven) that was pretty good too.

We do the same thing... I don't mind heating things up.. and tossing a salad. But do any of us "REALLY" want to cook on our vacation?!

We're staying at Windsor Palms next trip. I usually stay at the Fourpoints lakeside Inn on the 192 and use the Publix close to the entrance to Orange Lake CC for any food shopping.

Is there a Winn-Dixie anywhere close by ?

I wouldn't drive more than few miles to find one even to save a few bucks, but I'm always curious if there's one close - I love American supermarkets ! The selection just amazes me ! (Yes, I know how sad that is... ;) )

Beejayjay- Use the link above it gives directions to several grocery stores in WDW area. So funny, whenever DH & I travel internationally we always grocery shop to see what the locals buy & what products are available. Very interesting!

It may just have been the time we went (July, at night) but my husband returned from WD quite disappointed in their selection. He did not have a good experience with that market at all. (Yes, he is an experienced grocery shopper, so that wasn't the issue.) I would think that we were the lone customers with problems, but a friend of mine had the same complaint later in the same week.

Am I missing something ? Being dim ?

(Quite possible as it's 5.15 am here and I'm watching the Marlins struggle against those damn Skankee's in Game 3...)

When I try Reanna's link above, all it gives me are driving directions from the airports to Disney Resorts.

BJJ to get directions from the above link you have to put in the airport your flying into and a WDW resort. Then scroll down the given page.

Here is a direct link to grocery stores in the area and their address: http://wdwig.com/grocery.htm

Ok, Thanks TleGray !

Now if only the link worked.... ;)

I agree on being disappointed with Winn-Dixie. I easily got one of their shopper cards, but I was very disappointed with the selection and quality of the store. Maybe my Kroger's and Super Target have spoiled me. We have shopped at Goodings in the past, but it seems to have gone downhill as well. We might try the Publix which is over near the Premium Outlets next time.

I prefer the Publix by the outlet mall on International Drive for variety and prepared foods, but we stopped at the new Super Target off of 417 on the way from the airport, and it was cheap, cheap, cheap.
