BackinFebruary it was posted that there was a new Publix being built on International Drive just North of 535. Does anyone know if this Publix is now open?

when I was there in May it looked like it would not be ready until July or August at the earliest.

Agreed, I posted the info. It was just a roof with metal at that time. I'd suspect it's be at least August but you never know. Still, not that much farther to the one on the corner of 192 and 535. I also believe there's a Winn Dixie now on 535 just down from the Crossroads which may even be closer. I personally don't really like WD that much so I'll drive the extra to Publix.

We went to the new Winn-Dixie 2 weeks ago, it was great! New and very clean, great low prices. They even signed us up for a discount card when we went in (selected items are on sale with the card). At the end of Hotel Blvd, instead of going straight for Crossroads, make a left (535). It's about 3 lights down on the right, a mile or so. It wasn't crowded at all on a late Saturday afternoon. They even wheel the groceries out and load your trunk (sign said no tipping)!

When buying groceries for an OKW stay, we used to choose between:
  • Goodlings in the Crossroads center because it's so very convenient -- although very expensive.
  • One of the Publix stores (usually the one at 192 and International) because they have a good selection and good prices.
Now, we choose between:
  • Winn-Dixie, located around a half mile north of Crossroads center, because it's so very convenient -- and the prices are reasonable.
  • One of the Publix stores because we still like Publix better than Winn-Dixie.
I used to defend Gooding's on this board. I felt it was worth spending a few more bucks for the time savings and convenience. With the opening of Winn-Dixie, I can no longer justify Goodings.

If you continue down 535 past the Winn Dixie to San Lake Road and turn right and then down a few blocks, there is a new Publix there, open til 10 PM

We stopped at a Publix on Route 192 west of the maingate area. It looked new, but when we asked, an employee said the store was 6-7 years old! The prices were similar to what I pay at home for bananas, OJ, milk, yogurt, strawberries, cereal, etc.

We like the Publix on Sand Lake Rd also, only we like taking Turkey Lake Rd up past the infamous Westgate Resort and turning left onto Sand Lake. We go about every 5-6 months and get a kick out of how entire plazas keep suddenly appearing between visits.

There is a publix at Champions Gate which is off of exit 24 on I4
It only takes 7 minutes to get there from the MK gates. It's brand spankin new!

Just a note that I4 has changed exit numbers recently - they now use mileage markers.

 I have never been to Disney, and I will be staying at OKW Resort, we are not going to have a car and will be taking a taxi or a sedan from the airport, were can I get some grocery items for breakfast and lunches and snacks? Are there grocery stores in Disney and how easy are they to get to? Or can I call or go there and have it delivered to my room? Thanks!

Towncar services such as Tiffany Towncar include a 30-minute grocery stop on your way from the airport to the resort. That's one of the big advantages of a Towncar service over a cab.

When you get to OKW (or any other DVC resort) the bell services staff can store cold foods properly if your room isn't ready.

The Conch Flats General Store at OKW (and its counterparts at other DVC resorts) sell a small selection of foods and beverages. It's handy if you need to pick up some extra milk, juice, or bread, but I wouldn't recommend it as a substitute for having your Towncar driver stop the car at a Publix store.

:Pinkbounc Thank you so much! So Tiffany cars, is that the only one and how much is it from MCO for 2 adults? Thanks again!

Regarding the new Publix, it isn't open yet but the outside of the building appears completed. The parking lot still has some work, as well as the driveways.

We're currently staying at the Marriott Grande Vista on I-drive not far from Sea World and have been driving past the Publix every day.

Another week before we check into OKW and get onto Disney property. Just not the same staying off-property.

This is getting off topic (considering that this thread is supposed to be about the new Publix under construction near Little Lake Bryan), but allow me to point PiazzaM toward http://www.tiffanytowncar.com/ where the prices and a coupon can be found for Tiffany Towncar.

Tiffany Towncar isn't the only one, but it's the only one we've used (and we been happy with their service on 3 roundtrips, so we never tried anyone else.). Other town car and limo services include Happy Limousine, Selective Limo, Lincoln Limousines, Florida Towncar, Mears, and Your Ride. You can find more information on the DIS Transportation board.

And to bring this reply back on topic, I wouldn't be surprised if the town car services make their grocery stops at the new Publix near Little Lake Bryan when it opens.
