Many grocery stores have things set up so you have to show them a card to get certain sale prices. (Jewel Food Stores has a Prefered Card) Does PUBLIX require a card to get their sale prices?

No, Publix does not have a loyalty program. They have every day discounts ..at the bottom of your receipt it tells you how much you saved that day.. I work for Publix BTW :)

when you talk into the store look for their sales bulletin. then see if anything on it will work for you.

another great thing about Publix..............I hate having to have a card to get the discount. I hate carrying all those stupid cards.

I love that Publix offers their low prices to anyone.

Not to mention that their bakery is da bomb. Seriously their cake with buttercream frosting is soooooo good. YUM!!!

Another really great thing about Publix is their Buy 1 Get1 Free deals. You don't have to actually buy 1 and get 1 free. If you just want one of an item, it rings up at half price. Especially great if you are on vacation and don't need the 2nd item.

Publix is honestly the best grocery store in Florida.I also prefer not to carry around those little discount cards, however I still have one for Winn-Dixie which isn't as nice as Publix but we ocasionally do shop there since they do have good prices. One funny thing was when we went to San Francisco on vacation a couple of weeks ago the cashier at the Safeway supermarket asked where we were from and if we had a discount card from our local supermarket, so we showed him the Winn-Dixie card and BAM ended up saving like $10 on a total bill of like $28.Maybe you might want to show your Jewel card at Winn-Dixie, they might have the same thing available!

most of the time when there is only one grocery store in an area - they raise their prices.

Publix doesn't seem to do that.

just wish our Publix in birmingham - would get Florida fruits and vegetables instead of the junk from California and South America.

he kepts telling me he can't....

they finally have oranges from florida - but want strawberries too. greed...

I like the publix fried chicken..... :goodvibes

Oh yeah!

I have found Publix stores to be clean and well stocked with friendly employees. My son works in the meat department there, and he's skeeved looking at the meat departments in a lot of the other grocery stores in the area. He notices things that most of us wouldn't.

Here's a vote for their birthday cakes, they are wonderful!!

I like the fact that they don't have the loyalty cards, and thanks for the information about the "buy one get one." There have been times that I just didn't buy the product because I thought I was getting ripped off because I really only needed and could use only one!

The Publix's in the Jacksonville, FL as well as Tallahassee, FL do *not* do B1G1F by ringing each item 1/2 price. The first one scans full price & the second shows as the full price with another line item under it with the price in negative (thus cancelling out the 2nd one rung at full price, making the 2nd item free). I'm pretty sure that the ones in the Kissimmee area do the same, full price, then free - not 1/2 & 1/2.

I have shopped at several different Publix's in the Orlando area & never remember seeing 1/2 & 1/2 on B1G1F's & I'm one of those crazy receipt checkers - because Publix will give an item FREE if it rings incorrectly (first item free, then each additional item at the correct sale/shelf/sticker price). (This tends to happen often if you buy an item from their clearance section that has a special pricing sticker on it however they never blink an eye when you ask them to correct & credit.) :cheer2:

Oops. Sorry if I led anyone astray by that info. Our Publix here rings B1G1s for 1/2 price each. I wonder why it would be different from location to location? I live in GA, but I know it can't be state or local law because our Kroger rings true buy one get one.

In any case, Publix is far and away the nicest regular grocery I've ever been in. When I moved here it was already here, but I don't know for how long. The Winn Dixie built a new store and rehabbed it twice in 8 years because it had gotten so run-down and trashy. If you go in on just about any night around 9:00 or so, in my Publix you will see them hosing down the meat room,
buffing the floors and taking care of their store!

In my area of SC, the B1G1s each ring up at 1/2 price like they do at your Publix in GA. :thumbsup2

You might be thinking of items on sale that are like 2 for the sale price. Like for example an items that is usually $3 is now on sale for 2 for $5. So in that case you can just get one for $2.50. But buy one get one free stuff you can't get them half price, you have to buy the one and get the other one free, at least that is how it works at my local Publixs. Maybe things are different at Publixs in your area though ?

I miss Publix whle I'm up here in MA. I miss their sweet tea and chicken wings.
