We'll be stopping at Publix with a town car service on our way to WDW. I know they have beer and wine, but do they have liqueur? More specifically, Captain's Spiced Rum?? Thanks! This is always a great savings!!!

No, grocery stores in FL do not sell hard liquor. You will have to go to a liquor store - ABC Liquors is the big chain in Florida. Often there will be one (or another liquor store) in any bigger plaza that has a Publix.

Some Publix stores have a liquor store attached to it. I know the one by my place in South FL does, check the ones in Orlando.

Yep. There are "Publix Liquor" stores too.

I was just at the newer Walmart on Palm Parkway which turns into Turkey Lake Rd. 7 miles from DTD this past Monday and it has a liquor store inside with all sorts of hard liquor.

To get there take Hotel Plaza Blvd. to 535 turn left on 535 then turn right on Palm Parkway. Take that for 7 miles and some point along the way the road name changes from Palm Parkway to Turkey Lake Rd.

Here's link to their store locator site - http://store.publix.com/publix/. Just click liquor stores and it will bring up pages of those in the Orlando/Kissimmee/LBV/etc. area that have liquor stores. Too many too copy here, but if you have a specific address or route, hopefully you can find one on the way.

Sorry for the misinformation - when I lived in FL a few years ago there were no liquor stores in our groceries. Is it based by county or something? I lived in Brevard.

There is a liquor store connected to the Walgreens on 535.... Hotel Plaza Blvd turn right at light 535 down about a mile or so on right is Walgreens(I think it was just past the light that you turn at to get to outlet mall.
Also if you do turn left at the light that goes to outlet mall , when you pass the outlet mall there is a new shopping center down on the left with a Publix.

You're not giving bad info. It's not like CA, where hard liquor is sold right there next to the yogurt, LOL.

"Supermarkets and other licensed business establishments may sell beer, low-alcohol liquors, and wine. Liquor must be sold in dedicated liquor stores which may be in a separate part of a grocery or a drug store."

It just happens that official liquor stores are allowed to be inside/next to some grocery stores.

Some might have an attached liquor store. But they to be in an area that allows that.

Where I used to live, Publix was on one side of the road and could not sell beer on Sundays until 1pm. They built a larger building on the other side of the road and was officially in a different town. They could sell beer and wine all day on Sunday. They also built a liquor store that was attached, but could only be accessed from outside. (This was in Brevard County, btw.)

There also may be an ABC Liquor store on your route, so if you can't find a Publix Liquor store, you may get lucky and find an ABC liquor store nearby.

Thanks so much everyone! Unfortunately, we do not know which Publix the town car service stops at. Last time it was a bigger and newer Publix. Oh well. Thanks so much. :goodvibes
