We’re here at Disneyland today and enjoying the beautiful weather.

While waiting in the wheelchair/ECV line, something got me thinking. I really have to give kudos to the CMs, especially one in particular. We were informed that there would be an extra 15 minute wait which we were fine with. Unfortunately a man behind us gave the CM a really hard time and complained that he and his group had waited over two hours to get on the ride. Apparently. they had arrived at the line earlier, were dissatisfied with the wait and were given the option to return later. They opted to return, but ended up waiting even longer had they just stayed the first time. The CM patiently and politely explained that today is extra busy due to it being May the 4th and the Space Mountain overlay, plus limited number of accessible ride vehicles. Unfortunately the man continued to give him a hard time.

I bring this up because for the obvious reasons, the next several months into the foreseeable future are going to likely bring unprecedented crowds. From what I’ve seen today, Disney is doing all they can to prepare. However, as guests we can prepare as well by having realistic expectations, planning accordingly and being patient. All of us need to keep in mind that the CMs will working extra hard this summer season (and beyond), so let’s all follow their direction when in the parks, and show them extra kindness and appreciation. Just my two cents.

If I ever run into any somewhat crabby CMs, I always try to remember they probably dealt with many very unpleasant people that day and try to give them the benefit of the doubt.

As for crowds, it’s interesting. Today is obviously really busy. There are lots of people in the park and wait times are long.

But for whatever reason, the park doesn’t feel annoyingly packed, at least to me. It’s pretty easy to get around. I’m comparing it to last Monday when the park was also really busy, but that day it just seemed like I was constantly running into bottlenecks and things were not flowing smoothly throughout the park.

I don’t know whether it is staffing levels, something to do with the stroller restrictions, or maybe just my random personal experience. But I feel like I’m having a much easier and smoother day at the park today than I did a few days ago on Monday.

I guess my point is, Disney is doing a good job managing crowds, at least when they expect them. I hope it’s true into June and beyond!

I totally agree! I’ve been very frustrated before when my favorite rides have broken down but what I remind myself is that first, it’s not the CM’s fault AT ALL that the ride is broken down and second, when a ride breaks down for a long time, it’s because they want to be ABSOLUTELY SURE that it’s safe. Complaining about it isn’t going to make the ride start working completely the way it should and it will only make everything else worse!

Our family motto is "Smile. Be Flexible. Participate." And it comes in handy in so many situations, my parents and grandparents came up with it while on vacation when I was in high school. I have no doubt we will be saying it a lot when we are there in September!
