Public School Calendars

Do you all have the schedule for next year's school calendar yet? My county has yet to release theirs and I would really like to know how much it will interfere with our summer! (We usually start around Aug. 23, but they are thinking of beginning Aug. 4.) Sad thing is...I'm a TEACHER in this school system and I still don't know what's going on!

Yes. Our district has published calendars all the way through the 2012-2013 school year on its web site. I appreciate it for planning purposes!

Sorry that your district isn't planning ahead. That would frustrate me, too.

I'm going over spring break next year, if I only knew when that will be. My district has not released the calendar yet. With Easter being so late next year, we may end up with a March or April spring break.

We got our intial version of next year's school calendar at the beginning of the new year. Then around February, we got the finalized version.

We teachers go back 3 weeks before Labor Day ....too early for us.

We have our master calendars for the 2010-11 and 2011-12 school years already. Can't imagine still waiting for them.

We don't have ours....contract is still up for negotiation. God knows when we'll see it.

Winter and Spring brinks are set county wide for the next several years. But individual districts can add days, start on different days, end on different days, take Jewish holidays or not, and take President's Day week.

Ours is already up (Brevard County) and school begins August 9.

Ours are published through 2011-2012 on the district web site. I'll only be able to pull the kids for a couple more years, so I hope they continue to publish this far in advance.

Public school teacher here. Ours was approved on Monday, being copied now. Parents will find out this Friday.

I know its terrible of me, but I am kind of happy that I am seeing people go back as early as the 1st/2nd week of Aug, we'll be in the world Aug 20th-27th and I am so scared of the crowds!!! We usually go the middle of May and its pretty empty.

We know in Michigan that public school can not start until after labor day. That is all we know of our districts schedule. Last summer we got the schedule in August less than 1 month before school started. So anyone planning on a spring break vacation next year really has to take a chance. It is usually the week before or after easter.

I like to plan dentist visits and things on teacher planning days, and I won't know those until school is almost starting.

We won't get ours until June. Here the school board has to vote on it and the voting usually takes place in June.

Our teachers here are still working without a contract, so they only publish the scheduele one month at a time. It's so frustrating! We had to plan our summer trip hoping that we would estimate the right last day of school. Luckily we made it by 2 days!

Another teacher here-we have to wait on the state legislature to approve a budget before the school can finalize the calendar. There is a chance that they will shorten the school year and cut our pay due to the budget crisis. I had a kid come to me yesterday about this. His family wants to take him on a cruise for graduation next year, but we don't know graduation dates yet.

We got ours this month with the April Newsletter. It is different next year with the late Easter. Spring Break is the last week of March/Early April and off again Good Friday and Monday after Easter. I have never seenthat before.We always went the week before or after Easter. Because of that we get out the latest I have ever seen without snow days June 10. Even with Snow Days when I was a kid I never remember going into double digits in June. June 10 is the last day this year, but includes 2 snow days.

We just got ours about 1 month ago and what's ridiculous is, they moved the school start date up a WEEK from the usual time its started for the last 10 years! So, we will be in Disneyworld. Oh well. My daughter is in kindergarten and we are thinking of sending her to private school for Kindergarten anyway since our public school only has half day K

Same issue here!! School where we are at in PA always starts *after* labor day.. this past year it started the week before because labor day was so late.. ok.. that i understood! but every OTHER year in last 10 years was after labor day.. we just got the 2011 calendar.. again, BEFORE labor day and actually in Aug!!! I was shocked!!! was planning a trip for the last week in August next year.. Early enough now with nothing booked so I can change it around, but annoying! Especially since they get 2 days off for labor day the week after school starts! I'd much rather them just start the day after as usual and then go a week longer in June!

We don't get ours until July. But they always start the Tuesday before Labor Day. It eases the kids back into the routine. Week 1: Tues, Wed, Thurs. Week 2: Tues, Wed, Thurs, Fri. ANd then on week 3 they add the dreaded Monday, lol.
