PTR JULY 2012: I talked my way into another Disney Day! 6-30

I love the idea of doing a country each year, I need to remember that for the future!

Glad the girls made there soccer teams!!

Hope the chrous concert went well, oh how I miss that.

Good luck to them in the talent show I hope they do well!!:goodvibes

I am going to drop you the link to my ptr as it is not in my siggie yet.

I use mapmyrun. You can set it to talk to you at different intervals. Mine is set for a mile. I used Nike+ for the race. :headache: The GPS was off, so it was telling me I was farther than I was. I finally shut it off. It would say: Only four miles to go (I set it at ten mile distance) when I really had closer to five...

I think it you go out to run/ walk three miles the voice telling you mileage would work. I think a modified approach to Galloway may be the way to go.

I run based on how I feel. So I would suggest that you pick the distance- run as much as you can. walk. and run again when ready.

I have a two-mile loop in my neighborhood. I would run/ walk/ run/ walk until I was able to run the whole thing. There is a hill that I still sometimes choose to walk.

Thanks for all the tips! :thumbsup2

And... I really like your plans for your day when you do China. I would LOVE to meet Mushu!!! How cool would that be? I love the department store too... I have found some incredible deals there.. Imagine...deals at WDW.

Also, did you hear about Perry the Platypus taking over for Kim Possible???

I think this is going to be, as they say, wildly popular!

Debby, I am ready to study China with you! :woohoo: At Brooklynn's book fair, they had a Tomb Warriors book, too. I was so excited to see it, and even though it is still above her reading level, she can still grasp a lot of it as it is read to her. I think this would make a good report topic one of these days when she is in elementary school. :thumbsup2

(I just had the book out a couple of days ago at school as I was straightening some things up. Now I need to remember where I put it!)

Yay for soccer teams!! :thumbsup2

Good idea about focusing on a country. Should be really interesting! Your girls are at a great age for that!

How is your year winding up? When do you get AP scores back? My kids take their EOC on Tuesday - yikes - it's a "iffy" group at best. I'm hoping they all pass, but have a couple that I'm reeeeeeally worried about. :scared:

Hello! I happened to stumble upon your PTR, and then, when I was updating mine, see you showed up over there! SO HOWDY! You get to Disney after we leave, but I always enjoy reading about other plans, so it is fun to see all that is going on over here! I was an HS English teacher, btw, several years ago... now an admin. BUT, I work with HS kids and so I understand the lament of May and testing!!!

So cute your daughters, my oldest son is in 4th grade, too... he is going to be 10 in mid-june.
Happy Planning, and I hope you feel better soon!

Oh! China! What a great way to explore and make your way around the Wshowcase.... Also, did you hear about Perry the Platypus taking over for Kim Possible???

Fourth grade has been another great school year for the girls. They turned ten in Feb. Thank goodness the bulk of the year is over! We only have 14 more school days to go which is crazy! Yay summer!

I did hear about the change to Perry. My girls are anti Phineas and Ferb... Go figure... I think it is a great change for EPCOT though!

Studying the countries ahead of time is a neat idea.
yeah for the girls making soccer.

Thanks. Soccer was a relief!

Chorus Concert was adorable.

Talent show...hmmm...they were the first act and the music jumped and then jumped again, and again. They tried to keep going but after three times, their friend melted then they did in turn and they ran off the stage crying...ugh.

The bugs were worked out throughout the show, and they were able to perform at the end. They did great, and this time, I sobbed. About 3/4 of the way through their number, someone started the audience clap to the music and everyone joined in. They when they finished everyone applauded loudly and cheered. When the girls walked out to sit in the student section, all of the kids stood up and cheered. It was so heart warming. I am welling up thinking about it.

Thanks for the link. :goodvibes

I don't know that I've shopped yet in China...crazy, considering I am a shopper!

Yay for soccer teams!! :thumbsup2

Whew on soccer! Only 14 more days! :woohoo: I get the AP scores back in July. I am optimistic that two or three scored four or five. The others I am hoping for threes...one or two might get twos.

I am sure you prepped them the best that you could. Hopefully, the test questions were in your favor!

I love your idea of studying a country each time you visit the World! What a neat way to learn more! :thumbsup2

Thanks! I thought about it when we saw the movie in Canada and I had to fb my friend to ask if she felt it was an accurate film!

I totally picked China because of your TR! I wanted to know more about the Tomb Warriors!! You rock Memom! :yay:

Hello! Remember me? :rotfl:

I do enjoy the TR writing so much better than the PTR! I am having a devil of a time planning!

So life updates:
~Only eight more days of school (and it feels like 20!)
~ My SIL and BIL moved back from CA; she landed a job with her old hospital and he signed a contract today for a job in the area. I am sooo excited that I cried. (I grieved when she moved to CA a couple of years ago; it was horrible.)
~Girls competed in the talent show. They were the first act and after three jumps of the music (they kept trying to keep going each time) they ran off the stage crying. All kinks were worked out throughout, and they got to perform again as the last act. They didn't win, but they did get the biggest cheers and crowd support! (I cried when they performed a second time because the crowd started clapping to the music, and all the students stood when they finished...Heck, I am crying now, thinking back.)
~ I am the "team administrator" for the soccer team not the "team mom." I think the difference is that I am the secretary to the coach and not just the snack sign up lady...can I do that job again? :rotfl2:
~We went to the USA Women's soccer vs China on Sun. Wonderful game!
~Only 12 more days until my cruise with the girls and my mom

~ I applied today to be a writer for examiner.com, but I am only telling my Dis friends for now. I still have to write an article for the application process. I know someone who writes for them and some other online sites. I don't know how much it will pay, if anything, but I thought it might be an area to venture into. Also, there is a photography aspect to it, so I can publish photos too. It just seems like a fun hobby to try out. I'll see where it takes me.

Only 40 days till Disney!

So, what have I been up to in planning? Nada, really. I have to get some ressies in because right now I only have 50s Prime Time and Via Napoli!

I did put in a wait list for Boardwalk. This was the resort I wanted to book, but it wasn't available. I figured it wouldn't hurt to try. (My other three waitlists came through in the past.) If it doesn't go through, I will be happy to stay at Jambo.

This is posing a planning problem. If we are at Boardwalk, I need to book Epcot/ Boardwalk dining. At Jambo, I need to book around what park we are attending! :hourglass

I was just thinking about you the other day. I knew you had been busy with soccer. I can pretty much only keep up with trip reports, so I just peek in on the pre-trips occasionally.

It's good to hear that the students were so supportive of the girls after the glitch in the performance. :grouphug:

Good luck on all of your writing pursuits. :thumbsup2

40 is not a bad number.

Not quite as good as 23 ;),

but still a nice enough number.

Only 39 days to Disney woohoo for you! Way better than 192. :rotfl:

Hope you have a great time on the cruise!!!!

I am so proud of the girls for getting back out there! What a wonderful memory the SECOND performance will be.

Go soccer admin - do you get an expense account? :rotfl:

I am stalled on planning as well, so I totally understand. Although my planning is pretty set, anyway. I think part of it is the end of the school year, too. Tomorrow is my last day with the kids. Saturday, I head to the beach with the girls. :cloud9:

Tell us more about the cruise plans! Can't wait to hear about it! When do you leave? How long are you gone? Where all will you be going? :yay:

Hello my friend, we are home and I am all caught up!

So proud of the girls for going back out onto that stage, that could not have been easy for them....I have a tear just thinking about it!

Good luck with the writing:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

Good luck with the examiner application!

Yeay for almost being done with school and having a cruise and Disney trip on the horizon!

Poor girls with their music not working -- glad they had such a great reception at the end! :goodvibes

Are you home yet? Can't wait to see cruise pics and hear all about it! Let us know how the writing is going too! We misssss yoooooouuu! :goodvibes

Hi there everyone! I am back from the cruise. I hope to do a mini trip report about it starting tomorrow. It will help pass the 20 days until Disney!!!

First, I need to declare that I am blessed (and spoiled). My mom paid for my girls and me to accompany her on the cruise. For years, my parents rented a condo at the beach for the siblings and me to join them for vacation. Last year, my mom rented the in same gorgeous condo building. My older brother had started dating a girl who is not the beach type, so he said it would be his last time at the beach. There was some drama with my younger brother. This year his vacation dates weren't going to be ideal for my mom as he was going away the last week in May and couldn't do it again until Aug.

My mom decided we should go on a cruise. I looked into the cost which wasn't that much more than the condo (yes, it was a three bedroom condo with more square footage than my house.)

I began researching the cruise (Carnival Pride) and made sure I used the same obsession as I did for our first Disney trip. This is why I haven't been as present on the DIS. I found a forum for Cruise nerds that is comparable to our Disney community. (Cruise Critic dot com.) This site was invaluable!

Well, no worries to losing me to that forum. While I am very grateful for the experience, and the fun vacation with my mom and girls, I will stick with Disney.

Now, my cruise experience isn't typical to others. My mom booked a suite which gave us an amazing stateroom and VIP status.

I will do a mini-trip report, but I need to upload the photos to a hosting site.

In the meantime, I need to decide on some meals! We leave for Disney in 19 days and I have two dinner reservations!

Anxious to hear about the cruise.

And 20 days will go fast! We just packed the car since we are going to grandmas first.

We won't let you move out of DIStown!!! :flower3:

We are eating at a few new places this time. Via Napoli and Plaza are new to all of us, and Akershus is new to Bella and me.
