Day 2 of our St. Louis Trip (Sunday, June 21st)
Being very tired, we all went to bed and were asleep by 10pm or shortly after. Sunday morning, Bridgette and I woke up on our own shortly after 6am. CRAZY!!! We went to bed easily, got 8 hours of sleep, and woke up feeling refreshed at an early time. Cool!
That allowed us to casually get ready for the day and we started the morning by going to a local church within 10 minutes of the hotel.
Afterward, we came back to the hotel...changed...and then headed out to south St. Louis to get to the Magic House.
We chose to do this venue on Sunday, because they were letting dads in for free (Father's Day). At $8.50/ticket, that was a fun savings. The downside was that the place was TOTALLY packed. On a school day, with less crowds, this is a great learning environment....on a packed day, less learning and just more about the fun.....we're on vacation, so that's okay.
First area was some fun musical contraptions
Then on to the "Once Upon a Time" room.
Beauty & the Beast's table
and the Beast himself
Next, Samantha found a beanstalk to climb (she climbed this multiple times)
and of course, a slide to come back down
The two also found time to perform a melodious duet on the piano
Next up.....the BIG beanstalk. The first building we were in was 3 stories tall and between one of the winding staircases, they had built a big "beanstalk" stairway that kids could climb that went all the way from the 1st floor to 3rd floor.
Joshua moving tentatively
For some reason, despite the fact that he loves to jump off of things, he found this thing very scary....halfway down, he started crying pretty much the entire time.....you can tell he's been through an ordeal once he's finished
Then we found a cool contraption. You took a ball or colored handkerchief and stuck it into a hole near the bottom. The ball/cloth would then quickly shoot through the pipes thanks to the power of wind and then come shooting out one of the open holes.
The Magic House also has a VERY cool 3-room Washington, D.C. setup.
Outside of the rooms, we took time to raise the flag
Then, the boys took a moment to give a Presidential speech
President Samantha preferred relaxing behind the Resolute desk
In the "Congress" room, Samantha gave a heart-rending version of "Jesus Loves Me" to all the politicians in session:
There was also a court room (Judicial Branch) that was very cool...but Bridgette didn't take any pictures there, because she was annoyed with the teenagers that were in there
After D.C., the obvious thing to do next is to start building a house
Samantha looks like she's enjoying the power of controlling a Caterpillar
Part of the Magic House's theme apparently is to remind you of the good ol' days.....
We found a big ruler on the wall to measure the kids with. I love this pic of Joshua. I call it "4 feet tall: Tiptoes & a Twizzler"
(Sorry Samantha, no scary rides for you at WDW)
Okay.....think I might be running out of room for this post.
Will continue day 2 later.....
in which we have a Hair-Raising Encounter and we eat some delicious desserts.....
