Disney 101!

101 Days until we are in Walt Disney World!!!!

Tomorrow I will post pictures of my count down calendar....it starts at the 100 day mark.

YAY!!!! The next 100 days are going to fly. You'll be in WDW before you know it.

I can't wait to see your count down calendar.

Here’s the new details.

Transportation:

Airfare $650 -- I have one way tickets for the 3 of us for $316.50. With the cost of jet fuel these days I don’t want to under estimate. In our favor is that we are flying back on a Tuesday which is the cheapest day to fly Southwest.

Rental Car $191 –- This is actual cost right now, down from $220. I changed to National and moved up 2 car sizes since my original Dollar ressie. I’m still hoping to add an e-coupon to my ressie closer to departure to save another $30

Airport Parking $100 for 10 days

Gas and Tolls $60 –

Resort - $1350….I still have not made ressies yet. And now I’m thinking about staying at Old Key West again instead of Caribbean Beach Resort. But $1350 is the most I’m going to pay, so I’m just waiting for Disney to release some Fall Specials for the resorts.

Tickets - $0 We have tickets left over from the last 2 vacations (I did this by design)

Food – Grand Total including tax and tips $992 -- This includes breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks and groceries. I re-checked to see if we should do the dinning plan with our current schedule of restaurants but the answer was still no because we would have to each buy a park ticket to get the package and I don’t want to spend the cash if we don’t need to.

Miscellaneous:
Service Tips $45
Valet Parking $40
Sundries $25 –mostly stuff for DS that I don’t want to pack
Pre-Trip Shopping $47

The $500 of souvenir money is coming from our Disney Visa rewards…we currently have $274 and from our coin jar.

I’ll update our budget again once I book our return flight and our resort ressies.

You think much like I think (in some ways that is).

I like to try to estimate every cost I am going to have and budget for it. I also try to pad my budget just in case. I like the feeling of beating my budget and coming home not using all my cash or not using any CCs.

Hurray for 101!!!

Can't wait to see the countdown calendar -- I love seeing what other people have done with that!

Hooray! This reminded me to look at my ticker, which I haven't done in a while and today is my 2 month and 2 day mark!

I can't believe this vacation is getting so close! I have so much to do!!! If you asked me if I wanted to leave tomorrow I would say no because I'm soooooo not prepared yet. I have started shopping for vacation stuff. I'm trying hard not to go over board.

I usually use 10% as my "padding" amount. Works most of the time.

Have you checked the Disney store online? They're having a great sale right now. You could do a little trip shopping without overspending.

Count Down to Walt Disney World....100 Days!!!!

Here's my countdown calendar. Made with Home Depot Mickey heads. You might notice that we start and end with a DIS Limey head! Instead of crossing off the number I will cover it with a different Disney sticker for each day. Today I covered #100 with one of those mickey stickers that they give out everywhere in the parks.

I'll try to update the pictures as we cover more days.

That is a very clever way to do a Countdown Calendar....

Congrats on 100 days.....almost Double Digit time.

And about Ariel...it's always been about Belle. I like that she's well read. Okay, I'm really losing it because I'm talking about an animated character.....;)

I went through that too -- but then one day you realize that you are all organized and ready, and you can't wait to go!

I love, love, love, love your countdown calendar! It may be my favorite one that I have seen here on the DIS! Did you just use a standard size piece of poster board? How did you get the Mickey Heads off the cards? Did you just cut around it? Can you see that I am trying to figure it all out so I can replicate it? :goodvibes

I LOVE your countdown calendar. And I like the idea of covering the number with a fun Disney sticker. I may do something similar with my kindergartners for our 100th day of school countdown calendar.

Yes, please share your secrets. It is the best countdown I have seen!! :thumbsup2

That's an awesome countdown calendar! I agree; inquiring DISers want to know--did you just cut out the Home Depot Mickey heads?

Wow...what a great response for my calendar! I actually thought it was kind of sloppy since I did it during DS's naps.

It's regular size poster board, 100 mickey heads, double sided tape, markers, glitter glue and some scrapbooking paper. And I made the title on my computer with the Disney font. I cut all the mickey heads from the paper cards they are on. Tip: cut at an angle under the paint chip part because it's not glued on the edges so you get a cleaner looking MH. If I had to do it again I would either do the scrapbook paper first and make more of a border or not do it at all. I think it looks unfinished the way it is now. And next time I'm going to do a hidden mickey design with the MH. The numbering is done so the next number in the countdown is "touching" in the one before it so I should get a swirly pattern when we put more stickers on. Speaking of stickers...I have a lot of disney stickers already but I lucked out at the dollar store. 100 little stickers for a buck! I thought they were confetti at first. I got 3 different styles and ended up with about 75 different stickers.

I'm actually excited to pick out a new sticker every day...Dorky I know but for the next trip DS will be old enough that he will want to do it.
