PTR for Noah's wish trip -MAW/GKTW- April 7th - 13th, 2010

Forgot to mention that we'll probably be the slow to get out of bed bunch. Thanks, Pamela, for letting us feel like we're not the only ones! I used to be a morning person, really! But our kids are super excited to do the Character meetings at GKTW, so we'll probably try to catch most of those.

So -- my question about these autograph books. Since this trip will be a great opportunity to get autographs, I'm going to try (emphasize -TRY) to make each kid their own book, so they can have their own memory book. I will try to intersperse pictures with the autographs. So my question is, how many pages should I make it? I mean, how many autographs (roughly) do you usually get? We probably won't stop all the time, but will do the GKTW characters, and whoever they see that cross our paths?

Also, does anybody know if the Star Wars characters do autographs?

OK, done now!!!! Thanks for listening!!! :goodvibes

Well, I just pulled out Olivia's autograph book and counted the number of autographs she got..........................32!!!!!!!!!!!!

The thing to keep in mind is that you won't have to wait in line at all for autographs as they will sweep you right to the front. I think without the 'magic button' I would be hesitant to let the kids (make me) stand in line for autographs.............those lines get looooong and who wants to spend their whole day in line????? Being able to skirt the line was just terrific and as a result every time we'd see a character we'd be like "There's X............RUN!!"

Re: the Star Wars characters..............sorry, I'm no help there.

Your itinerary looks good so far:) Probably a smart move to not plan anything off-site for that first day. Our limo picked us up at 4 am so it was a loooong day first day!

Hi Beth, your plans are looking good. Sorry I cant help about the autographs but I just wanted to say for the Jedi training. I've heard if you have your GKTW button on you will most likely be picked and you can talk to the CM before to make sure their aware the kids want to participate and it's a MAW trip. Good Luck!

Wow, Pamela --- 32? I better get started making these things!!

Will definitely try the Jedi training --- my boys really want to do that, but they'll probably just stand there in awe of their "idols"!! ;)

That would be Margaret (MCazer on DIS, Howddode on Ebay)! She made them for our boys, too. They are awesome autograph books. Her Ebay listings have matching hip bags and a large pen or marker, too. All of the books are personalized and she does such a great job. I'll be posting pictures of ours on Friday on Aidan's PTR, too. Her prices are reasonable, and the quality is definitely worth what you pay. You really should look into it. Oh, and she makes great luggage tags, too! ;)

I'm on it! Thanks for the tips, guys!!:drive:

Just joining in and chiming in on some thoughts. . .

Autographs can really vary - we've gotten as few as 20 and as many as 60 depending on the trip and what our focus was. Plus, I know my DD is not satisfied with one autograph per character so if she meets Mickey three times in the course of a week he has to sign her book every time. Unless you attend Star Wars weekend (which I think is in May) and the actors from the movies are there signing, SW characters do not sign autographs.

I do not have any personal experience with this but from what understand Disney is the #1 vacation spot for understanding special dietary needs and accomodating them. Also, I think you can bring almost anything on the plane as long as you have a doctor's note describing the medical need. Maybe call the airport and ask?

As for Chef Mickey's/Garden Grill, Chef Mickey's is a lot of fun but you get much more character interaction at Garden Grill. The characters came around two or three times during our dinner. CM is Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy and Donald. GG is Mickey, Pluto, Chip and Dale. We also really enjoy Tusker House breakfast at AK which is Mickey, Goofy, Donald and Daisy.

Okay. . .I am done writing a novel on your thread! Hope it helps!

Jen,
I appreciate all the info! And I'm glad to hear that about the Garden Grill! about your daughter getting Mickey to sign every time she sees him! too cute!

Thanks for the encouragement too on the diet. I know it will work out somehow, I just hope I don't drive myself crazy in the meantime!:scared1:

Beth, just read your PTR and posted over on the Dis Big Give....please tell me Abby like Tinkerbell as well. I have some beautiful fabric in her favorite colors! I may have to even add in some Universal stuff since you guys are going over to our favorite park!

She does like Tink too! Thank you for being so sweet and thoughtful! I don't think I have access to another posting site though? :confused3

You all can laugh now that I'm just NOW getting to understand this whole board thing! I could blame it on the trip, or the kids, but I feel like I have pregnancy brain without a baby!!

I am so excited to visit Universal! I'm the only one who's been there before, but it was when I was in college! I have this totally irrational but fascinating fear of sharks so I'm really hoping to still be able to do the JAWS ride!!

Boy these boards are killing me.....I could spend all day reading PTRs, TRs, etc. I love hearing all about everybody's adventures!!

You aren't supposed to have access to the other board yet (it is a separate site from the disboards) - it is where the Big Give info is posted and where items are volunteered for. After your give is over, you can sign up if you want to help with future gives. So no worries - your computer literacy is just fine! :)

Oh, good. That's one thing I can't blame my foggy head for!!;)

It's been cold, windy and rainy for six straight days now, kids are climbing the walls (quite literally), my DH has been working his tail off and not getting home late, and random things around the house are breaking. Yes, we officially have a case of the winter blahs around here. MUST start thinking more about Disney and warm weather!! :goodvibes

One of the things that broke is my camera. Well, didn't exactly break, but it's not keeping a charge at ALL -- even with new batteries. So my mom had an extra one that they aren't using anymore. I think this is the one I'll use for our trip, so I'm going to practice taking pics in the meantime...so you might see some random photos on here from time to time. Just me practicing! :rolleyes1

So I was super excited to get the autograph books I ordered that you all recommended!! YAY! Thanks so much for the tip -- these are fantastic!! Margaret, the kids love them! Not the best pic, but best I can do with four kids that have been cooped up inside all week!

Also, John turned 9 this week, so here are a few random pics -- just for practice!!
We have cinnamon rolls every birthday breakfast -- I can now make a keto version for Noah!

Just had to include this one of the birthday boy -- he was excited about his new lego set...

And this one of Noah pretending to be Indiana Jones...

Okay, practice fairly successful. I am not such a great photographer -- my sister got all the artistic genes in the family. She has her degree in photography so she is our OFFICIAL TRIP PHOTOGRAPHER!! :cheer2: Thank goodness for Auntie!!

Off to make some dinner -- I hear screaming! :scared1: (Somebody probably fell off the wall they are trying to climb up!!)

Spring can't come fast enough!!!!

Oh bless thier hearts and yours! Your kids are adorable!! I love the pic of him alseep!!! Plum worn out!! Their autograph books are really cool! They picked out some neat ones. I am thinking about ordering some for Ty and Sierra too. You took some great pics. ;)

Awesome piccies! Margaret's autograph books are so great..she's very talented! :goodvibes: I loved all the pictures, the kids are so cute! :cutie:
