While we have DT's, DD8 & DS8, I opted to surprise my DW with a 10th anniversary trip (ADULTS ONLY) on our first Disney Cruise. As DW is a little nervous about cruises in general, I chose a 3-Day Bahamaian Cruise to start us out and figured we could build on that for the next time.
We usually stay Deluxe (and CL half the time) at WDW, so I knew we were going to need at least a Deluxe Oceanview w/Verandah. What I was surprised at was the day I went to book, the GTY classification came out that saved me $400 on the cruise! And since we haven't cruised before, I don't "know any better" and just went with it. I figured that $400 would be put to good use in the spa (which we both enjoy) or against our alcohol tab.
After studying up on DIS about what to book first and how quickly certain excursions and activities get reserved by others, I couldn't wait for 75 days to hit so I can see what was still available online. Here's what we saw and booked this past Saturday:
NASSAU DAY: We have done Nassau trips in the past, so I figured we would be staying aboard and exploring the trip and enjoying some romantic downtime. To that end, I've booked her a Fire & Ice Pedicure and booked me a Elemis Deep Cleanse Grooming Treatment with Shave for me. (I read a review from a gentleman about the express shave and he HIGHLY recommended spending the extra few bucks for the higher level.) I also gifted us Rainforest Passes for this day and hope to relax the hours away in those tiled chairs overlooking the calm waters.
CASTAWAY CAY DAY: I wasn't planning any specific excursions at Castaway Cay, but when I got curious and took a peek, Cabana #20 on Serenity Bay was still available. OMG! I had read these always go right away to Concierge and Platinum guests and are never available to those newbies who book at 75 days out like me. So I decided to take that $400 I saved on the booking and reserve a cabana for the day. Yes, it's just the two of us. Yes, we would likely be perfectly fine without it. But, it goes hand-in-hand with my plans for Nassau... relaxing, pampering, peaceful, romantic. Just like any 10 year anniversary should be, IMHO!
I'll be trying for one or more of the tastings onboard and we are big theatre buffs so we will be sure to see all three (3)!
And now that the surprise has been announced, and the kids are done bawling their little eyes out (it wasn't that bad actually), it's time to kick back and watch the days tick away!
