PTN - one last time

So we're heading to DL on Thursday for the marathon weekend, and we'd like to see PTN and the fireworks one last time (along with everyone else, I'd expect). Last year, I camped out for over an hour for a spot on the bricks near iasw, but it looks like that area is now part of the Aladdin's Oasis dinner package.

My initial thought is to just buy the dining package for Thursday or Friday (there are still reservations open multiple days for the 2nd parade), but I'm wondering if that'd be a bad idea since we'll be dealing with both APs and the marathon crowds. I'm thinking Saturday would be a no-go since I'm running the 10k that morning (which also makes Friday night look less appealing...) On Sunday, Deluxe and lower AP are still blocked out, and I'm wondering if some marathon folks will have already headed home. I'm pretty sure I'm going to want to be nowhere near DL on Monday night!

I'm probably overthinking this, but what would your plan be?

I'd just book the package at this point, it's the last week now. At minimum I'd try for Thursday so you have a second shot on Saturday or Sunday if for some reason it doesn't happen.

Regarding the fireworks, I'd try to watch them earlier in your trip. That way, if the show gets cancelled, you would still have a few more nights to try again.

I'd try for Thursday. We just went tonight and there were lots of spots open at 6 (parade was at 8), but by 6:15-30, it filled up a lot.

If you don't get a good spot on Thursday, you can always try again later.

Do you guys think saturday or sunday would be a better bet this weekend? I'm coming solo with my kids (5 and 8) and I'm a bit worried about staking out a spot, holding on to it, managing bathroom runs, etc... but seeing the parade is a non-negotiable, so I've got to figure out a plan.

Our tentative plan is that we're going to try for Thursday night and then see. There are several to-go package spots left, but they're all for the second showing, and I'm not sure how well that'd go over with the baby!

kangamama, do you think your kids could do the second parade? I'm guessing anyone running the marathon Sunday morning won't want to stay up for the late parade on Saturday night.

I was thinking about it -- I think my five year old would fall apart, although my 8 yr old could handle it. I would up reserving a grab and go for Sunday for the first show. We don't arrive on Saturday until early afternoon, so we may take our chances on Saturday evening. Good luck to you!

We're stopping by on Friday evening to see the fireworks. on our way to San Diego. It'll be our only chance this time, so I'll be hugely disappointed if they don't come off - we missed them when we were there in late June. How have the winds been the last few days? Have there been cancellations?

They've gone off every night this week, but that's no guarantee... Good luck!

I'm planning on seeing it one last time this weekend as well. Probably Saturday. I'm thinking I'll go to the late parade. I'll be there solo so it's harder for me to hold a spot if I have to run to the bathroom or something. I was there a couple weeks ago but the parade started with the Monsters Inc float so I'm hoping for the whole thing this time.

We had that issue also, my 5YO was like "Why is Sulley first??". We're trying to figure out if we can sneak in one more parade this weekend
