His current understanding is that the Halloween parade will only happen on Halloween party nights. He didn't give much more info besides that.

So, by late November, can I hope that means the few days before Thanksgiving? It's seriously the only nighttime entertainment worth staying late for in my eyes. Oh well. If it's not running, my husband and I can take turns staying with the kids at the hotel while the other goes out and rides all the single rider lines all night. Still, not as fun at PTN.

Unless they've changed it this year, they've had Mickey's Halloween Party Character Calvacade at MHP in past years (they did not have it last year). It's a cute psuedo-parade; it's not quite a full blown parade in the sense of Boo-To-You at MK, but it's more than just some characters going down the route. If you look it up on YouTube you can get a sense of what it is like. It's been a party exclusive in past years and the Disneyland Press Release on MHP implies that it's exclusive again this year.

If the Reddit user is correct, I'm actually pretty surprised that PtN will be returning after HalloweenTime ends. I honestly thought that it was going away after Labor Day and probably wouldn't return until next summer. I thought they would use Soundsational and the Christmas Fantasy Parade for the holiday season, but I wonder if this means that Soundsational will be going away after HalloweenTime. I can't imagine them having three parades running in DL.

I know this thread is about PTN but I just have to add that Im gonna miss the Pixar parade in DCA! My kids and I all love that one. I know its been around forever though and I figured it would be going away sooner rather than later.

So, according to this news source, if I'm there Sept 12-16th I should expect zero parades or fireworks at Disneyland. I SHOULD have Pixar Play Parade and World of Color in DCA though. It makes me wonder what DCA will be like every night with crowd levels!

I've never been to DLR during the off season so I don't know what it's like to not have parades and fireworks every night. Does anyone have any thoughts about nights like that?

The operating hours have been posted for 9/6 and 9/7, but the entertainment has not yet been posted. Historically, DLR did not present fireworks nightly during the non-peak season (usually only on Fri, Sat, and Sun). So, if they go back to this schedule, there is a chance that Fantasy in the Sky will be presented on Friday night (although, the announcement was kind of vague about when Fantasy in the Sky would start). In the MHP/Halloweentime announcement, they did say that Soundsational would be returning on a daily basis during HalloweenTime.

I actually prefer the nights without entertainment. There's still plenty to do. It's easier to walk and breathe in the park. I like to go one some of the rides that look a lot different at night, like Matterhorn at BTMRR. It's also fun to have a nice dessert somewhere later at night. While I'm sad all the amazing nighttime entertainment is coming to an end, at least temporarily, I am seriously starting to look forward to not stepping on people's toes trying to push my way through Main St.

I went around the same time in 2014 on weekdays. I liked not having the nighttime entertainment personally. It made the evening hours calmer and easier to navigate, and made it so you could actually hang out and enjoy main street in the evening.

I would like to see the parade and fireworks once though (hoping to get over there in August).

Thanks for pointing this out; it makes me feel better about missing PTN. You're absolutely right that DL is lovely on non-entertainment nights. We will get the chance to see fireworks on our Friday night; hopefully the winds won't get up and make them cancel. Meanwhile, I love Mickey's Soundsational, so we'll just look forward to that. Also happy that WoC is still nightly. I was able to book the dessert package for that on Wednesday, Sept. 14th.

I can empathize. For my family and friends, Disney is about the night time entertainment. If you go to WDW, 3 parks have nightly fireworks/show all year round...and I think the Animal Kingdom just got or is getting their nightly show which will go each night.

It's one thing I wish DL would do. They do WOC at DCA, but not DL. If they're hiding behind the excuse that "sound ordinances" keep them from doing fireworks each night during the school year (even though they just did that for the entire year+ of the 60th), then they can at least have PTN every night when they're not shooting fireworks.

As for DCA, it's hard to tell what will happen. If you have a FP for WOC, then don't sweat it too much. Crowds? Hard to say. Will everyone coming from DL to DCA to see WOC be as much a crowd as a typical summer crowd at DCA where the DL folks don't come over. Man, all those acronyms can get confusing!

I guess I'm just one of those "silver linings" people. I actually dislike all of the parades except PTN and MSEP when it was around. There are some people who only go every 5 years, others who have only been once in a lifetime. I understand it's super disappointing. I truly do. I believe you mentioned so much before in another thread. Think of it this way though--you got to see it once. Some people never have and possibly never will, at least not in person. Parades come and go. This particular parade has a lot of mechanical parts that also need frequent repair and tech updates, so it has to go down once in a while, plus it's a great tool for next summer season to use as a marketing ploy while budgets are being slashed. Do you remember the original MSEP? Now, that was one parade people were literally crying over when it left. But, like so many others, it came back for a time, and is now available elsewhere.

I get that people are frustrated. I am, too. But, on the other side of that, I've tried to push my stepmother, who is wheelchair bound and on oxygen, down the sidewalk only to be blocked off by the solid wall of people waiting for the parade because crowd control couldn't get them into the designated waiting area. I've been trapped by legions of people while my son desperately needs to get to the bathroom. I have watched someone whose child had quadriplegia being told they would have to go elsewhere because what they needed for disability access was unavailable due to the crowd. It is frustrating that it won't be there, obviously even moreso to you, but there are a lot of things to do at Disneyland without that stuff, and it will be much easier to access all that other stuff without the crowds, so just try to keep a positive mindset going into it or you'll miss out on a lot of greatness.

I actually haven't seen it, or any other parades or fireworks at DL for that matter. The trip I was referencing was my first trip. I'm hoping to get out there to see it once before it's gone.

But someone asked what it's like without nighttime entertainment, and I say it's not a total loss. I really enjoyed the nighttime atmosphere and lights on main street and the ability to unwind at the end of the day, so I think it would be a tough call if I would rather miss that opportunity or the opportunity to see the entertainment. I guess I might be singing a different tune after I've seen the parade though.
