I was also going to suggest Kennedy. It's not too expensive and is an amazing place to visit. I think Atlantis is now in place too, so you can get up close with an actual Space Shuttle.
What excursions does the cruiseline offer or were you planning to rent a car and take off on your own?
They probably have bus to Space Center-cost to get in is about $55 or so. Love the museums and everything about the place. Shuttle Atlantis is open now. There is also Astronaut Hall of Fame up the road from there.
They may have a bus that brings you to Old Downtown Melbourne that has some pretty cool shops, bars, and restaurants. We like Meg O'Malleys for lunch but several other good restaurants to go to. went shopping there yesterday and saw a lot of really cool inexpensive jewelry and some beautiful clothes for Fflorida/island living.
Maybe a bus to Cocoa Beach Pier and the beach. The pier has some shops, restaurants, and bars on it. Beach is nice there. About a mile or south of the pier is the Sandbar Restaurant that has reaaly good fish tacos and a fun atmosphere( right at the end of Rt. 520 and a block from there is Ron Jon's surf shop aand another surf shop across the street, bothe worth checking out.
