We have now decided its lunch time. Off to the Hungry Bear Restaurant. Sean had the Fried Chicken Sandwich with fries, Cindy and I had a Cheeseburger with Fries and we all shared an order of onion rings. Now I would like to tell you a story. See no one eats here for the food. It’s just a burger stand with a 2 story seating area along the banks of The Rivers of America. You get so see the Mighty Mark Twain pass by, the canoers canoeing, and the Sailing ship Columbia sailing by. But the best part is….feeding the ducks your fries! In my next life I want to be a duck along the banks of The Rivers of America. Sean found us a wonderful table right along the side so I could feed my future friends and maybe start learning how to speak duck! Lunch was great and very peaceful. I didn’t hit any canoers with my fries either!
We head back thru Tomorrowland and stop at the Starcade. Cindy and I enjoy a game of Jurassic Park. Sean thinks girls with guns are VERY cool!! After we blow up some dinosaurs we are just ambling about. There is a slight chill in the air so we head back thru to New Orleans Square. There is a BEAUTIFUL courtyard there and tell Cindy that I have always wanted to be married there. It has a beautiful sweeping staircase. Something you’d find in Gone with the Wind. It’s actually the CM entrance to The Blue Bayou (the restaurant inside of Pirates of the Caribbean) and to Club 33. Oh how I would love to get inside!
We head over to Downtown Disney after we retrieve our jackets. This is a first for me. We head over to World of Disney. Everything Disney is in this store and I could get lost in it FOREVER! I did come across a WONDERFUL Alice bag that I showed Sean…Which I am now the proud owner of. Well we decided to head back to Disneyland and get some coffee. Off to the Monorail we went! Standing in line I take up some floor space as I am now tired as a dog and have a feeling I have at least one blister on each foot. But I wasn’t telling my company!! If I did they would have decided to head back to the hotel! It was only 9pm and I was soooo not ready to leave! We grab a seat on the monorail. I love the monorail at Disneyland so much! It drops you off in the middle of Tomorrowland! We head out of Tomorrowland and over to the edge of Fantasyland to ride The Matterhorn. I have been telling both Sean and Cindy the different histories about different places inside the park. I am a wealth of useless information! The Matterhorn is a not tall enough to have blinking airplane lights on it and there is a half court basketball court inside because in the 1950’s the only things that were that tall were sports arenas. So Uncle Walt cut some corners and cheated so he could have his version of the Matterhorn. The wait was about 50 minutes long. We got into our sleds (Matterhorn looks so funny without the holes in the sides from the skyway!) and the ride starts. In the Matterhorn you sit in between the legs of your ride partner. In the first 20 seconds of the ride I whacked my left knee. I try to keep a happy face and enjoy the ride. Sean is taking pictures everywhere but I become very nervous as the pain in my knee is excruciating. So we get off and I tell Sean I really whacked my knee bad! We head to the Smokey treat area so I can check my knee. All looks well and I just rest a bit. We head further into Fantasyland and decide to ride Mr. Toads Wild Ride! And no one stuck gum in his mouth on his statue! That’s a first! Well half way thru the line Cindy’s husband that’s in Iraq calls! So she promptly exits to talk to him. Sean and I make it thru getting hit by a train and thru hell and back into the real world again! Cindy is still talking to her honey so we just rest for a few moments. Cindy gets off the phone and is a bit bummed. So we decide to take a spin on King Arthur’s Carrousel! Next we head to Snow White. Ya know the place where the Wicked Queen jumps out at you? Yea I’m always afraid of that part. Here I am 30 years old and still scream like a baby!
We head back thru Fantasyland towards the castle. I'm really limping now! Sean sees this and asks to go back to the hotel. I agree I don’t need to be limping on this leg and I am REALLY tired. But I want to ride the Autopia!! We stop off to feed the swans that take up residence in the moat around the castle and head over to a busy crowd on Main Street! I had forgotten that Saturdays are Swing Dance night! We sit and watch for about 15 minutes. I really love how they dance! So after a few moments of that we head over to the Autopia. The line is minimal as all of the small children have gone for the night! Disneyland use to have 2 separate tracks. One in Fantasyland which was hardly ever open and one in Tomorrowland. Well a few years ago they combined the 2 and made it MUCH better! The one in WDW is soooo boring compared to the one in Disneyland! We make it around without any head injuries!! But my knee is pounding so we decide to call it a day! We head back to the parking lot and say our goodbyes to Cindy! It was a wonderful day indeed! Off to the hotel which was 3 miles down the road! I regular $100 room I got for $40!

PsychoAlice--thanks so much for the great report. I love DL and haven't been able to get out there since I moved east. It may be smaller than WDW, but there are special things there that I really miss. I love the beginning of POC and the outside of IASW (especially at Christmas). I could go on and on...but I have very special memories of taking DD there when she was a little girl. It will always be the original for me.

PsychoAlice - Just wanted to let you know that Club 33 really is a very special place in Disneyland. I work for a very large company that has a membership and as recognition for my 25 years of employment my family and I got to have lunch there in Feb. of last year. It was a buffet lunch and was great!! The decor is that of an old english manor with the "wait staff" dressed accordingly. The buffet consisted of salads, cold peeled shrimp, cheeses, hot entrees of vegetables, potatoes, roast beef, chicken, and a "cooked to order" pasta station (with Mickey shaped pasta). The desert station was fantastic with cookies, chocolate and carrot cake, pudding, and fresh fruit with chocolate dipping sauce. We lingered over lunch for about 2 hours and really enjoyed ourselves. On the way out, I wanted to purchase one of the "exclusive" Club 33 leather baseball-style jackets, but since the price was $400.00, my husband was not going along with my plan. I settled for a Clubb 33 pin and coffee mug. A gal I work with is a big Disney fan and sure enough, she has one of those jackets...lucky gal!!!
Thanks for your report, I loved reading it!!!
