DH says he probably wouldn't - there's not a huge amount of saving to be made and you might have warranty issues (though I guess it is possible a PSP bought at WalMart could be returned to Asda? Anyone know??)

Also as Paul mentions the same films don't play (different regions)

Yes Karen is right, if you do buy one from WalMart then if anything goes wrong with it you can take it back to Asda.

We looked at the PSP's in the US in December. They were around $240 at the Florida Mall.

But as mentioned about they are region coded to Region 1 for movies, so will not play UK movies unless you get them chipped in the UK - which I assume would invalidate any warrantee etc.

I also noticed that some games had movie clips that were also region coded (the game package said 'Region 1').

We got our PSP in Orlando before they were out here in UK and have no problems at all. DH downloads films on to MP4 and has memory stick.

Hi

We bought ours from Virgin store in DTD. The prices were not really cheaper back then and we didnt know you could return items back to Asda if you bought from the USA.

However our PSP seems to play region 2 UMD Videos. We joined a PSP club and was sent Spiderman 2 UMD and it plays. We are a little baffled as to whether they all do or did were we lucky :confused3

I would buy over here to be honest with you. Unless you find it cheaper at Walmart and the gaurentee will be valid. As soon as you leave USA it apparently you lose the gaurentee. I would phone Asda and ask. If they say yes and you get a great exchange rate you may get a bargain. :teeth:

Try this link:

http://www.pqdvd.com/

Very good bit of software, I use it all the time. Does DVD conversion to Pocket PC and IPOD as well. You can alter the size of movie to fit several onto a 1gb memory stick

PS.....if you havent already got one, A 1gb memory stick is probably cheapest at ebuyer.com. A suitable one is:

http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/prod...2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=98801

PS....I dont work for them!

Either way, whatever you do, don't waste your money on the UMD movies for PSP as its yet another format to confuse your movie collection.

US RRP: $249.99
UK RRP: £179.99

www.xe.com claims $249.99 is just under £140, so thats quite a saving. I would imagine you could get a pack deal with games and bits quite a bit cheaper.

I am thinking about getting one myself when over. But Pro Evolution 5 over here then play it on the way back!
I like the idea of surfing the net on it!
