So I called WDW Reservations today to give them our CAA number for the room discount. The very pleasant CM I spoke to initially had to transfer me to the Grand Gatherings reservation CM, as we have 4 rooms booked. The Grand Gatherings CM was downright surly - monosyllabic answers (eg I asked if there was a telephone number that would go directly to the Grand Gatherings department and he said ÿes - that's it, yes. I had to ask him for the number LOL), quite unhelpful when I asked about making sure that our rooms were on the ground floor and very near a DSM (there are 3 smokers in our party, one of which has restricted mobility) and it was just a really un-Disney experience for my first call ever to WDW :headache:

As for ASMovies, can anyone tell me their experience staying there? Also, if anyone knows which building/room would be on the ground floor and really near a DSM, I'd really appreciate that info!

I expected much better customer service from Disney, honestly :confused3

Hey the first CM you got was pleasant. Yes I know they all should be happy campers but unfortunately with a gazillion cm's we're bound to run into a boar once or twice. I wouldn't sweat it, I've found more gems than duds over the years.

I stayed at ASMovies once and had a great stay, the only drawback is that I'm a pooh size gal and I need a bigger bed then they have at the values.

Yep, I spoke to a rude CM today too! Must have been something in the air. I'm not happy.

Lisalonglash,

Your post reminded my of...... Do you know what time it is? .... Yes......................................

I am sorry your experience was bad.

It is frustrating when you are calling the place you are handing $6000 to and the person on the other end of the phone makes you feel like you are bothering them. In general, I am finding the people that answer the phones at CRO sound pretty disgruntled. Not like it used to be. And truly, I do not expect too much. Just somebody who is helpful and does not sound like they hate their job. I can handle curt, I am curt, but the sound of boredom and irritation coming through the other side is what gets me.

I think there must be something going on there today in particular.

I called 5 times today to apply the new code before somebody actually said something when answering the phone. I was hung up on two times (pick up and hang up), once it was two people laughing so hard she could not stop and then finally just hung up the phone and the fourth was somebody talking on their cell phone and kept saying they had to go and I got tired of waiting and I hung up. The 5th time a guy answered and assisted, but I could tell that he could not wait to get me off the phone.

I read several comments on the TGM forum that people were being hung up on after holding long periods of time.

I think that between the constant system challenges, plan changes and discounts coming out, many of them either have burn out or a high frustration level. They should never allow it to come through to the guest, but sadly they do. :(

Don't be hesitant to call back if you need to. Not all CMs are bad. Some of them are actually quite wonderful and helpful. :)

Don't hesitate to call or e-mail Disney's customer care if a CM is giving you attitude. bytheblood's story of having to call 5 times is particularly disturbing. Of course, jerks are everywhere, but fortunately I've only had great experiences when speaking with CMs.

We had called last week concerning one of our reservations and somehow got transferred to the grand gatherings line. The person who answered was very nasty and when explaining our reason for callilng wanted to know why we were calling the grand gatherings. We apologized and said this is where we were transferred and he was definately rude. Hope not to ever have to book grand gatherings and deal with this guy again. Leave for the world in less than 24 hours.

We've stayed there 3 times. I would DEFINATELY pay for a prefered building because some of them are darn far away!!! We stayed in the Dalmation building and it was right next to the pool and close to the front busses and eats.

The ground floor request shouldn't be a problem since it's for medical reasons. Make sure that is noted on your reservation. From the map, it looks like your best bet for a building would be Love Bug or Fantasia as there are smoking areas in between those two sections. There are no smoking areas shown on the map for Toy Story at all. And only one for Mighty Ducks and Dalmations (in between them near the laundry facilities). If you are driving, Love Bug would be closer to the parking lots but if you are using Disney transportation, it's the farthest from the buses in the front of the resort. Fantasia would be better. Also note that there is a smoking area at Cinema Hall.

Next time you get a rude cm, just say "Oh, I'm sorry I am bothering you. I will call some one else." Hang up and redial................................

Personally, I'd rather ask them for their name and suggest they start updating their resume, but that's me. ;)
