Are your kids going on a Senior trip sort of thing?

I think what's happening is that the more they talk about how long it takes, the earlier and earlier people are applying (and I don't blame them), so it's really piling up right now.

That's why I'm going to hold off a little bit. Waiting for the spring break/summer vacation rush. We won't need ours until the fall. I'm going to do it around the 6 month mark.

We ordered DS14's in Nov for his trip to China, it was here in 3 weeks (not expedited). It took a month for them to return his passport with the Visa for China on it however.

Last spring DH THOUGHT he needed one for his trip to Mexico, waited too long as usual, ordered it with expedited service and got it in 3 weeks-about 2 days sooner if he hadn't paid for the expedited service .

I am sure the times are longer now with so many people getting them though.

My husband, daughter, and I went to the post office last Thursday and applied for our passports. The postal employee told us we could expect to receive them in about 10 weeks. He then asked if we needed them sooner. If so, we could pay another $60. per passport and receive them in approximately four weeks.

Our daughter is taking the SATs on May 5, and needs to show a photo ID along with her admission ticket. We were figuring she could use her passport, but there was no guarantee that she'd have it in time, so I took her to the motor vehicle department and got her a state ID card. The state ID will be mailed in less than two weeks.

Luckily, we won't need our passports for awhile, so we're fine with the 10 week wait.

How long after your check was cashed did it take for your status to appear on the website? My check was cashed the other day, but I'm still not in the system...unless there is someone out there who has my same last name, same birthday, and same last 4 digits...lol...probably!
