Just a reminder that the USDA recommends that if you plan to thaw your turkey in the refrigerator, allow 24 hours for every 4 to 5 lbs. Thawed birds can safely stay in the refrigerator for 1 or 2 days prior to cooking.

So, you're going to want to move that gobbler to the fridge soon if you have a BIG bird for next Thursday. I bought my 24 pounder today and it's already taking up the entire bottom shelf of my side by side.
I have bad memories of cleaning out the cavity and grabbing onto a great big chunk of ice.
