PSA: Free Government Covid test site now live

Thanks for posting. I have covid right now and only have 2 tests left in the house. Have a feeling we will be needing many more this winter.
Feel better! Yes, it's good to have some on hand. At our school, there are tons of viruses going around, Both covid and non-covid. It's nice to have the home tests so we aren't running to the dr.'s to get tested for every sniffle and cough.

The Government program is gone but the covered test program still exists, it has now been shifted to Insurance Companies.

If you have Medical Insurance call your pharmacy and ask for the 8 tests covered by insurance, they cover 8 per month for each family member.
The store also has these tests on the shelves, however, if you just walk in off the street you will pay out of pocket for your tests, insurance only covers the tests if they are processed like a prescription through the pharmacy. I picked our families up through the drive through last week when DD tested positive.

Also, if you are covered by insurance then the Paxlovid is also covered, it seems all Covid related everything is covered in the interests of Public Health wellbeing. My DD was on it and went negative for a bit, then it did come back day 8 after the 5 days treatment, but I guess her body was given enough time to build up a fight in those 5 days because it went from the roaring crash on day 1 to the annoying head cold type version that is considered less severe. She is around day 15 or so now and still isolating with one bathroom on the bottom floor, we are opening the windows to avoid a gush of germy air and passing things through the door, so far so good fingers crossed it stays this way. We are doing mucinex and she is enjoying spicy foods and soups, hopefully it is unwinding now but really who knows.

Hope you feel better!

Just ordered more, to replace the ones I used at disney. Don't worry, neg. Seems I was the only one on the disboards that didn't get covid at disney.
Neither my husband nor I did nor my DISer friends who were all there with us but I know what you mean and it's nice to have tests to take with you

We were in Disney until Dec 4. Starting feeling sick Monday. I like to think it wasn’t Disney but who knows when/where I got it🤷‍♀️

Works for Medicare also. I order on Walgreen's website and do drive through also. 8 per person.

We have a bunch of Medicare ones, but I ordered these too.
We just got back from WDW so will be testing tomorrow.
I need to check the link they have for checking the expiration dates and check the ones I have.

Just ordered some more. The ones I have are “expired” or not depending on which date I look at. Part of the test has a date in 2023 the other says look at date on box which was in July.

there is a link on the gov site that you can use to check what the exp date is.

I just got back Tuesday and have a bit of a sore throat and a cough that developed there. Tested negative twice now.

I ordered mine after seeing the heads up about it on my local news' website this morning. Always good to have them around; the ones I already have are expired. I haven't needed them yet, but you never know.

Same. We had a pretty decent stockpile until I tested positive 5 days ago. We ran through them pretty quick testing DH and DD every morning for work reasons and just for reassurance of sending her to school. We can get 8 tests each month through our insurance fromDHs work, so we will start our next stockpile

A new government program was opened up this morning 12152022 for 4 more free tests per household.

That's why this thread was bumped by Dan Murphy.

Ohhh I didn't look back, my bad.

DD is sick and on the second week kindly keeping isolated for my sake and so I am exhausted keeping up.

I would encourage people to remain careful, this isn't a walk in the park even in the best case scenario and I do think we are very blessed with what is available to us.

I got it from disney in June. My aunt and I were both there, from different states and flew both legs separately). A couple days after we got back i started to feel off. Tested negative and then she told me she was getting a sore throat. I tested the next morning and was +. She tested that night and was + too.

It is confusing. The hourglass date on the box was orig supposed to be the exp date even though individual parts inside the box had much later dates. When I looked a few months back absolutely every one that I had at the time was fine, thank goodness.

This thread and others like it have been enormously helpful to keep me in the loop, I am usually off on a tangent marching to my own drummer & apparently never read nor watch the things that spread the news firsthand.
