PSA: Free Government Covid test site now live

Wondering if there will be any issues with temperature sensitivity with these tests being shipped...

Our Channel 10 WILX out of Lansing had an article just today about the temp range for the tests. 36 degrees to 86 degrees and the bubble wrap they are in doesn't help with hot or cold.

Got a notice the ones I ordered for the new house (which we don't get until Tuesday, will be in the mailbox Monday. Well, if someone else grabs them, that's ok (other than them stealing someone else's mail...)

I have an order in for the old house too; but haven't received a ship notice yet.

I actually just read an article on this. The FDA is saying that they're designed for shipping in both very hot and very cold temperatures. They recommend bringing the tests in as soon as possible and leaving them at room temp for at least 2 hours before testing. And checking the test lines to make sure they look normal. But apparently they should be okay to use.

Good to hear, thank you.

Anyone else who ordered on the first day not gotten their tests yet?
We haven't either. No tracking info yet. I had my husband call the 1-800 number used to order by phone and the person said they have no way of looking it up, but suggested contacting USPS but USPS can't help without tracking info

I'm annoyed I feel like communication needs to be better. It's been 18 days.

This morning, I'm watching Good Morning America, and there it is on the news crawl across the screen: Many people can't order the free government tests from the site due to an address snag for people living in APARTMENTS at the same address.

Sure enough, I test the site and ONE lucky (first) person used our address already and the REST of the hundred or so of us can't get the test kit as “At-home COVID-19 tests have already been ordered for this address. We are unable to process duplicate orders for the same address." :sad2: :sad2: :sad2: It doesn't matter how or where I input the apartment number. (There IS a separate box to list it.) I'm using the way the USPS wants us to list our address and it doesn't work.

Well, I am in shock. As stated, the first day I tried to order, I got the message that tests have already been ordered for this address. I filed a complaint stating this is an apartment building.

The next day, I try again and a NEW message appeared saying my address is invalid as even an actual address. So they had deleted the address from the USPS address system. :badpc:

Well, that's one way to make sure, as the press secretary said, "The number of households the apartment glitch affects is actually a small amount." Just delete the address. Problem solved.

I was going to file a new complaint, but I figure why bother. It would be a waste of time.

Today, I get an email from the USPS stating they are processing my order. And they did list my full address with apartment number correctly. Not tracking sent yet.

It's now a wait and see if anything arrives.

But, at least my address is "valid" again. That's actually more important as sometimes I order from websites that can only ship to an address the USPS determines is valid.

For those of you in receipt of the test kits, was the shipment preceded by a follow-up email stating the shipping information?

Ours were sitting on the porch when we got home in the afternoon yesterday. Hopefully it didn't sit out too long as the temps were only in the teens and we were gone for about 4 hours. :(

Yes I received an email on the Friday before saying "your usps package will arrive Monday".

Mine came in a very late mail drop and sat out in low single digits all night. Probably no good. What a waste.
That's why I'm antsy about it, this whole thing is so vague and without a lot of forethought into shipping. My mom hasn't received hers either but at least I know they are delivering some to the metro. Just a mess IMO.

Did you receive an email with the tracking info?

Nope! Ordered on the first day you could order and the only communication received was an email from USPS for an order confirmation. I honestly forgot about it until i saw this thread again..lol..
