Bring your ID with you!!!!! DS17 took SATs this morning and a few friends asked him for a ride (test site is 35 min. away). DH even asked them if they had everything - calculator, pencils, ticket - yup of course they do. 3 of the 5 kids didn't bring their ID and couldn't take the test! UGH!

Good PSA. It seems like it would be an obvious thing though... bring your ID to make sure the test matches the person.

Apparently, this isn't obvious to everyone though, lol. ;)

Or at least read the paperwork that comes with the registration stuff that has in bold letters "bring photo ID, no one allowed to take the test without a valid photo ID" :lmao::confused3

I have proctored for ACTs and some other kind of exam both times we had at least one student turn up with out ID!

I carry ID with me everywhere, so I don't understand how you can have your purse/wallet with you without ID in it (with the exception of people who don't drive)

I think thats the problem. I think a lot of these kids don't have a drivers license yet.

I didn't have an ID when I took the SAT's. I didn't even have a license yet!

We didn't have school id's. Wow, I must be old, or my school was just terribly small!!:rotfl:

We had school ID's way back in the dark ages when I was in high school so your school just must be small :lmao:.

I think way back in the olden days, there was the potential fraud issue there is now ;) I had a driver's license by the time I took the SAT, but not the PSAT. No problem. "Yeah, she's who she says she is" was, I think, considered valid identification wayyyyyyyyyyy back when I was in high school!

Its more like a pre-test.

see if you can follow the instructions you received,

like a PP said, in big bold letters, BRING IDENTIFICATION.pirate:

I was thinking there was another SAT-date in July, but the June test-date is the last of the year. Your DS' friends will now have to wait until October to take it which I guess could kind of suck for them and their college apps.

agnes!

I really think it depends on where you take the SAT's because i was never asked to see ID once. And I took the SAT's at a school where i didn't go. But I was prepared and brought it with me anyway.

edit: I know it says that you are required to have it. I think the test proctors must just not have cared.

Adding on to the PSA...While the person who did this awas taking the ACT, this applies to all tests: If your son or daughter is taking the test somewhere they are not familiar with (i.e. location) make sure you give them the correct directions to the testing location if they are driving themselves. No late admissions to the test!!!

SOunds odd...but this happened to a coworker's friend.

And turn off those cell phones! They tell you not to bring them but I see no harm if they are put away and turned off.

I just took the SAT's yesterday too. I remembered my I.D. but even if I hadn't my mom could've brought it since I was taking them at my school, 5 minutes from my house. I don't have a license yet, I brought my school I.D. I learned one thing I should've brought...an umbrella! It was POURING and for some reason they locked the front door of our school(which is covered) so we had to go in through the side door. It's not far at all from the front door, but by the time people got there they looked like they had jumped into a pool  Luckily for me, someone happened to be walking by when I was at the front door and they opened it for me :worship:
