I have gotten into the habit of shoving my Kindle into my purse every time I leave the house. Today, I didn't get it securely into my purse, and as I went out the back door, my Kindle flipped out, bounced down the stairs, and landed in the driveway. I had it in an M-edge case, but it still scrambled the electronic ink all to heck and back.

RIP, my Kindle. With it being a holiday weekend, I can't get a replacement until Wednesday, so I'll be reading paper books this weekend. I did get extra warranty with this one, that covers drops and damage.

:hug: I'm so sorry. I am so afraid of dropping mine or one of my kids no seeing it in the car. I always have it with me and I was carrying it in a little tote back and forth to work. But the kids are so quick to jump in the car and toss the bag on the floor or just sit on the bag. I'm constantly yelling, "watch the kindle!" So I just purchased a Borsa Bag that has some padding and it's a bright color so the kids now know where the kindle is at all times.

My DH did not buy the warranty when he bought mine. I would be sick and outta-luck if mine dropped. :headache:

I don't have a Kindle but I love electronic toys like that and I would be bummed So sorry this happened.

What's a kindle? When I started to read your post, I thought it was about wood.:rotfl2:

It's a wireless reading device sold on Amazon.

Looks like the new ones are sold out again. DD wants one for Christmas, but I've been waiting for the price to drop again. I doubt that will happen before the holiday shopping season -- especially if they are sold out now. They will come down more. The question is "when"?

I would cry.
Seriously weep.

But at least if that happened to me I could still read on my iPhone for the couple of days it takes Amazon to mail the new one.

I am so sorry! I would be completely lost without mine too.

Wed will be here quickly - hang in there!

I'm sorry.:guilty::guilty:

I always have mine 'wherever I was last reading' and I just realized it's in the kitchen right now...going to put it up.

The link in the above post is for the "first generation" Kindle. The newer ones aren't sold out, thank goodness; that gave me a skipped heartbeat. I'm so in love with the thing!

So sorry for your loss. I think that I baby my kindle more than I did my kids! Still, thinking about how many times my cell phone has dropped to the ground, I worry for my kindle's future. :sad2:

Ouch! I love, Love LOVE eBooks. :love: But this is one of the reasons I'm waiting until the cheap "generic" versions of e-readers (like MP3 players) come out for about $50. :headache: Glad you planned ahead and bought the insurance.
