Here is the planning session trip report. It was just my mom and I, because my DF just started a new job and is still building up days off for the wedding.

June 7th- Hi Ho Hi Ho It’s off to Disney I go!

I will start when I landed in Orlando. I really don’t like this airport, but I feel like I am back home. I head down to the baggage claim to get my luggage and meet my mom. (She was leaving from Nashville and I left from Biloxi.) Well, it took forever to get the luggage from my flight on the belt. (I will let you know that it takes 2 minutes and 40 seconds for a Titleist bag to go around the belt once.) Well, the luggage started to come out, and low and behold mine was on the Orlando flight that was coming in later that night. We arrange to have the airlines drop in off at our hotel. We managed to get our car and headed to Sweet Tomatoes for dinner. After dinner we headed to the Fairfield Inn at the Marriott Village and checked in to our room. It was around 9:30, so we decided to head to DownTown Disney for a little bit. We only made it into the World of Disney. I loved all the cute stuff for the Year of a Million Dreams. We went back to our hotel and planned our next day out. The Magic Kingdom.

How exciting-- im jumping on board and ready for morepopcorn:: ! By the way-- did your mom ever find a good home for the other puppy?

Hope the rest of your trip was better than your baggage experience :scared1:
Can't wait to hear all about it!!!

PS-Sweet Tomatoes is one of my favorites!!;) Excellent choice!

We got up early that morning so we could do everything possible in the Magic Kingdom. My phone was flashing telling me I had a message. Yay, my luggage had arrived. We started our day with a stop at Down Town Disney to get my annual pass, and I got my first congratulations here. I always go to Down Town Disney so I don’t have to pay to park at the parks. We then headed to the Shades of Green to pick up mom’s tickets. Finally, we can go to the Magic Kingdom.

Mom and I at the Train Station

We walked down Main Street going thru some of the shops. Made it to the front of the Castle and watched Dream Along with Mickey stage show. It was cute. We then head towards Pirates. The last time I was there they had just shut down the ride to add in the new stuff. So I was super excited to ride it again. But first, my “I’m gonna be a good girl on my diet” weekend was blown at the site of the Dole Pineapple floats. We each got one, and it was so so good. Finally we headed to Pirates. YAY!!!!!

DisneyTrip002.jpg

DisneyTrip004.jpg

this may not be the best picture, but I didn't use the flash so sorry.

I loved the waterfall in the beginning, and Jack looks real. My mom kept asking if the first Jack was a CM or an animatronic. After Pirates we headed to Splash Mountain. The wait wasn’t to long, around 30 minutes. We were gonna get fastpasses for the ride, but the fast pass machines were down for rehab. We just waited in line. I love that ride. I was very thankful that the water didn’t get all over us though. Afterwards, we grabbed some fastpasses for Big Thunder, and walked thru frontier land and Liberty square. Before heading back to Big Thunder, we watched the Share a Dream come True Parade. I was kind of disappointed because it hasn’t really changed since I was last there. I thought it would be different with the new celebration. Anyways, we went on Big Thunder. I had forgotten how fun that ride really is. We started to get hungry so we ate at Peco’s Bill’s. Having spent most of the morning in that half of the park we headed to Fantasy Land. We went into Mickey’s Philharmagic. I highly recommend this show. It is my favorite. After walking thru a couple of shops, we decided to take a break from MK. We hopped on the monorail and headed to the Polynesian. We had a drink at the bar right outside of O’hana’s. I had the martini they created just for the YOAMD celebration. It was pretty good. Plus, it looks really neat.

It was getting close to the Space Shuttle launch time, so we headed outside and walked toward the wedding pavilion. We were going to walk around it, but there was a wedding getting ready to start. We continued walking and went onto the beach to watch the launch.

DisneyTrip007.jpg

Me waiting for the launch

While I was waiting there I turned around to look at my mom, and there it was….

DisneyTrip008.jpg

It’s a sign. My DF is all about NASA stuff, and I am all about Disney. Here I was seeing both at once. They can go together. :rotfl: The bride waved to us as she went by. We then watched the shuttle launch. It was beautiful. We were afraid we wouldn’t get to see it, because it had been really cloudy for most of the day. About 45 minutes before the launch the sky went completely clear. It was perfect. (I imagine for the bride too!)

DisneyTrip011.jpg

picture of the space shuttle launch

After this, we headed back into the park. I made my mom go with me to Pirates again. You can never get enough of that ride.

DisneyTrip013.jpg

Oh yeah, I bought the pirate ears!

We then headed to Space Mountain, because our fastpasses were ready. By the time we got done with the ride it was almost time for Wishes. We squeezed into a spot on Main Street to watch the fireworks. They were truly magical. After Wishes, we went back to Tomorrowland to ride the Astro Orbiter. I really didn’t want to ride it, but it was pretty fun. I was surprised that you actually did control the up and down of the ride. Once we got off that, we began to head out of the park. We stopped on Main street to watch SpectroMagic parade. Once that was over our time at the Magic Kingdom was over. We headed back to our hotel exhausted. That day I noticed a lot of Bride and Groom ears, pins, and happy anniversary pins. I couldn't help but wonder at all of them. Do they Dis?

Up Next…..trial hair and makeup, resort previews, shopping, and more eating

Holly this is so exciting! First off im totally jealous of a number of things. For one-- you got to go to Disney-- and I didnt. Two... you got to get a dole whip! AHH-- im craving one now that you mention it. Three... you got to see the Space Shuttle Launch.. and Four-- your still planning your wedding and now im passed that and just have to live through you. Can I come to your wedding?? Maybe re-live a little Disney magic for myself??

You look so good!! Im so excited for more!!:flower3:

Loving the TR so far. Cant wait to hear about the planning :)

We started with an easy morning. I was having Anna from Makeover Magic come and do a trial run. She showed up around 10. She is very nice. We talked about the wedding, Disney, and some of the crazy brides she has had. She was also telling me that she had to go thru an interview process to even get on the Disney referral list. She told me that they called a lot of free lance makeup artists in Orlando and interviewed them all over three days. It took three weeks for them to tell her that she made the list. She did my hair rather quickly. It turned out really nice. I also loved the makeup she did. I highly recommend her. Well, after an hour she headed out and we were off.

We went to Sweet Tomatoes for lunch again. (Did I mention how much I love that place.) After lunch we headed to the All Stars Music to check it out. We walked in the door and Brian and Greg were there to help us with everything we needed. They were extremely nice and fun. Brian started to talk to me about the wedding and the plans while Greg was finding a couple of rooms for us to tour. He came back and took us to a regular room and a family suite room. They both are really nice, and they had just finished completely remodeling them. We walked around the resort, and then headed out. We saw Brian and Greg again as we left, and they said bye and see us soon. Our next resort was the Caribbean Beach. We drove around there and went into the town center place. (The actual name escapes me. It is where the food court is and the swimming pool.) We didn’t check out the rooms because we were running late on time. We then headed to Downtown Disney to break the bank. First stop was the Christmas Shoppe. I wanted an ornament for DF and I for our first Christmas. I had our names put in the ears and the head said Disney Wedding Pavilion Dec. 4, 2007. Well, it took six of us to figure out how to spell Pavilion (I swear I always forget how many L’s are in it.:headache: ). Well, two days later I realized that it is spelled wrong. Oh well, at least it is unique. After the Christmas shoppe, we went into World of Disney. We were waiting to buy everything there because I got a 10% discount. I bought a ton of stuff for my nephews for Christmas, and a bunch of stuff for scrapbooking. I did get the blanket they offered for $15. It has Mickey on it with the symbols of the four parks. We finished slightly early so we made a mad dash to the Shades of Green again to get more tickets for December. We went to meet up with a couple of my former coworkers at Seasons 52 in Altamonte Springs. I worked in Orlando for about a year. I had a really good time talking with them, and the food was so good. I felt bad for the waiter because we sat at 6:15ish and didn’t leave until 9. We gave him a pretty good tip though.

My Friends and I at Seasons 52

We headed back to the hotel to rest up for the next day, EPCOT.

Up Next Epcot, Monsoons, and Jiko’s

We started pretty early that morning. We headed into Epcot and went straight to Soarin. We picked up fastpasses. The wait line was already at 50 minutes, which is actually a short line. We then made a plan to hit Test Track, Spaceship Earth, The Seas, Journey Into Your Imagination, then to Soarin. Test Track didn’t have a bad line, so we went on. My mom had never been on before. She sat next to this little kid that warned her of a spot you think you are going to hit a wall, but you really don’t. We headed to Spaceship Earth then. Spaceship Earth actually had a line. So I told my mom that I refuse to wait in line for that ride. I know that we would be able to walk on it later. We headed straight from Test Track to The Seas. I really liked what they did with adding Nemo. I was in awe of how they have the character images with the tank too. We stuck around after the ride and watched the Manatees. They were really playful. Most of the time they just kind of move slowly, but they were on the move.

DisneyTrip016.jpg

My mom watching the Manatees.

The dolphins were rather active too. There was one that was swimming upside down everywhere. Well, we noticed our fastpasses were almost ready, so we skipped Journey and headed back to Soarin. We waited a couple of minutes then headed in. I love this ride. I have to say it is my favorite in the park. After we got off, we immediately got another for almost 6 hours later. The World Showcase was now open so we decided to walk the world. We head towards the UK pavilion first, because my mom was afraid that we wouldn’t have time to see the terraces before our dinner reservations. We did our normal walk thru the shops skipping the movies and whatnot. In England, we checked out the terraces. We looked at the lower and began to wonder how they could fit tables in there. I had no clue, but they obviously know what they are doing. As we continued to walk around the world we made it to Germany. I so wanted a Strawberry Sparkler so bad, but when I got to the Wine Cellar I saw they got rid of it. NO!!!!!! :scared1: I loved those things. Oh well, I guess good things can’t last. We got towards the end of the world showcase, and decided to actually watch some shows and ride a couple of rides. First was China. I hadn’t seen that show in years. They mentioned that they added to more sites to the show, Hong Kong and something else (I forget, sorry). Of course we had to ride the Maelstrom in Norway. It is a dorky ride, but I like it. We actually decided to watch the video. I have seen it before, but most of the time I skip it. In Mexico we rode the updated boat ride. It now had the Three Cabeneros. It seemed a lot like the old one, but now we are chasing Donald all around Mexico. We still had a little time till dinner, so we went into Mouse Gears. That is when it started to rain, and it rained really hard. It even hailed a little. We had 45 minutes before we had to leave, but it still hadn’t stopped by the time we had to go. We broke down bought some ponchos, and headed out. There were puddles (or Lake Epcots as I like to call it.) that came up over my ankles.

DisneyTrip018.jpg

A summertime storm at Epcot.

We walked into Animal Kingdom Lodge with really wet shoes and socks. The bottoms of my shorts were wet as well. We got our table, and our waiter was great. We had the Tastes of Africa for an appetizer. It is a selection of African breads and dips. Most were pretty good, but one of the breads was really spicy. For dinner I had the Filet Mignon with Macaroni and Cheese and a red wine reduction. OMG, it was the best meal ever. After dinner we walked around the resort, and then headed back to Epcot for Illuminations.

DisneyTrip020.jpg

The savanna at AKL

We got in the park and noticed there was no line for Spaceship Earth. We just walked right on. Afterwards, we headed to the UK terraces to watch Illuminations. For some reason they had blocked off the lower terrace, but it wasn’t a dessert party. In fact, there was no food. It was just some people sitting down there.

DisneyTrip021.jpg

Once the park closed, we decided to head back to Down Town Disney. I picked up my ornament, which looks beautiful. My mom decided to get a milkshake from Ghirardelli’s. I still felt like exploding from dinner. We made our way back to the hotel for an early and long next day.

Up Next – O’hana’s, the Planning Session, Food Tasting, and the Magic Kingdom.

I had to laugh at the Dole whip thing. I never had one before then. I just saw them on the Dis, and heard everyone saying how good they were. I couldn't resist. Sure you can sneek in the back with Cori. Just know that I won't have room for you at the reception. Sorry:flower3:

Holly your trial seemed to have went awesome and your hair and makeup look great!

Haha- kind of funny about the Pavilion thing. We did something similar last Christmas-- bought our friends an ornament as a gift and had their names put on it..... their daughters name is Raylee and I spelled it "Rayley"... :headache: made for terrible looks when I gave it to them!! haha...

Where is this Sweet Tomatoe's you speak of?

So excited-- cant wait for more!!

Where is this Sweet Tomatoe's you speak of?

It is on the corner of Kirkman Drive and International Drive. It is almost directly across the street (Kirkman Drive) from the Sheraton with the big ball on the top. It is actually a chain, but far and few between. All it really is, is a big salad bar. It has almost anything you could want on your salad. They also have a soup and pasta bar, and a small dessert bar (mainly frozen yogert and stuff like brownies and muffins.)

We get up at 6:15a.m so we can make it to our 7:30 reservations at O’hana’s. We get there and are the first to sign in. We had to wait around for about 10 minutes, but all was good. They had a number of the staff come out and start the day with a welcome song, very neat. Finally our buzzer went off. I had never been to O’hana’s before, so I was surprised at the “Hi Cousin” thing. They handed us some bread as we went to our table. The bread was really good (a pineapple bread and cinnamon bread). Our waitress came by and gave us some juice. It was a mix of tropical juices (Mango, Papaya, and pineapple I think). It was really good too. They brought out our skillet of food, which was enough for 4 people. Also, they hadn’t even brought our Mickey waffles yet. I was so looking forward to those. I ate a little, waiting for the waffles. They brought it out, and I was surprised it was a rather small waffle. (not that I wanted a huge waffle, but you know most food you get at Disney is on the larger size). We actually finished our meal before the characters came out. I must admit I was being the world’s biggest dork and getting excited about seeing Stitch. He was the first one out. I got a picture with him, and while we waited for my mom to get her camera he gave me a big kiss. Next out was Lilo. Then it was Mickey. Mickey first tried to get his picture with my mom, but she kept saying no go to her and pointed at me. Mickey came to my side and I got a pick. Mickey, though, insisted that my mom get a picture with him; so she did. It came out really good too. I am so glad that she did this. Finally Pluto came out, and gave my mom a big sloppy kiss. He came to my side and I got a picture with him. We had seen all the characters, and I wanted to wait to watch the character parade. We would have been sitting for a very long time though, so we left and walked around the resort until it was closer to time. We drove over to Franck’s, and headed in.

Planning Session Primer
The planning session for me was going over the “Let the Planning Begin” form in detail. There were things that Marion suggested I do instead of what was down, and some things we had to look into. They also bring out visuals (linens, napkin rings, possible centerpieces) for you to get an idea of what exactly you want.

The first meeting
We had to wait about 5 minutes until Marion showed up. I was super nervous. I had read about her in other TR’s , and I was had visions of her being this mean woman. Well, I was wrong. She is very business, but she is also fun too. She arranged for us to be in the Merriweather room (which is the largest) for us to have our session.

Marion and I

The Rehearsal Dinner
The first thing we discussed was what I wanted for a rehearsal dinner. I told her about the miniature golf parties that I read about. She had never heard of this and said she would look into it. We decided to plan a backup just incase we couldn’t do it. We chose the Whispering Canyons Café for the backup. A little later in the session she left the room, and got some information about the miniature golf parties. She found out that the Winter Summerland will only host birthday parties and Fantasia Mini Golf has to be catered by the Boardwalk (which would be around $1500 for everything). She also looked into Disney Quest for me, because she knew that I was trying to accommodate kids. Well, they have a rental fee of around $1000 not including catering and admission into the place. Needless to say we stuck with the Whispering Canyons Café for the rehearsal dinner. The rehearsal itself cannot be schedule till a month before, because of the availability of the wedding pavilion.

The Ceremony
Next we moved to the ceremony. That went really smooth because I am having a small wedding and simple ceremony. So we went through that rather quickly. I felt kinda like I was doing something wrong, because she kept crossing stuff out. Are you having a reading? No. Are you doing memorial candles or dedication flowers? No. Are you having a flower girl? No. That was pretty much how the ceremony discussions went. I am having a ring bearer, my youngest nephew. Also, I will be doing a Unity Candle. We started discussing music. We talked about who will be walking to what song. I had only put one song for the groomsmen, moms, groom, and bridesmaids. She kind of looked at me like, “you realize that it will take a couple of minutes for the moms with the unity candles”. I looked to my mom and asked what song she wanted to enter to. She suggested the Circle of Life. I am still sticking with everybody else coming in on the same song though. I just don’t want to play 45 seconds of three different songs. Just play all of one. I did dictate the It's A Small World is strictly forbidden from the wedding. The original idea was to have the trio for the ceremony and the reception. After sitting at the UK pavilion the night before, I realized that you wouldn’t be able to hear hardly anything there. I really only wanted them for background music anyways at the reception, so we decided I would bring a boom box. I told her that I want the solo violinist instead then for the ceremony. She was insisting that I hear the organist first before I made my decision though. [(This was actually later in the session when I was with Rose) We snuck out of Franck’s and into the pavilion between weddings to hear the organist. His name is Bill and to say that he is flamboyant is an understatement. He was really nice and fun. He had us stand next to him, and he just started playing away. He told us to shout requests to him. I had him play Beauty and the Beast for me, which was the deal maker. That is definitely the song I am going down the aisle to. I also had him play Circle of Life for the mom’s with the unity candle lighting, but I didn’t like it at all. You could hardly tell what it was. He played several other songs. Most of which sounded really good on the organ. Someone from the next wedding walked in, so we had to stop and returned to the Francks.] After hearing the organist, I decided to drop the violinist all together. Other stuff that we talked about was the order of the ceremony and the staged exit. We really went over what the process is. I asked about sparklers for the staged exit, but Marion told us it was a safety no no. I am still trying to figure out what I will use if anything. We also went over what I would be bringing down with me (cake server and knife, unity candle, favors, etc.) and what we needed to do with them. They have to be there the day before the wedding, and I have to arrange for someone to take them back after the reception. Marion said they usually hide the stuff in a plastic storage box under the cake table, but said they would let us know exactly where it was hid before they leave the reception.

Up Next - Reception, florals and linens, cake, and food tasting

WoW! Sounds like a lot of stuff happened at your planning session. I bet you feel like you got a lot accomplished! Cant wait to hear more! Love the photo of you and stitch by the way!

In the first 5 minutes we had to change the location. I was originally down for the lower UK terrace. I first started to explain that I would like to try and get the upper terrace for cocktail hour and the lower terrace for dinner. Well, she started getting this puzzling look on her face. I had told her that I had already got confirmation for a plated dinner, but it was limited to salad and entrée. She started thinking, and then asked if I wanted the round tables. I said yes, and she said those won’t fit down there. (I thought so  .) She tells me that my back up location was the American Adventure Parlor. I didn’t even know that I had a backup location. She mentioned that they don’t like to tell the couples this, and I am not really sure as to why. I got really excited about the new location, so she checked to see if we could do that. She left for a couple of minutes and came back saying that it was moved. (That is when she found out about the rehearsal stuff too) Now we are doing the dessert party at the UK terrace instead. (Apparently the UK terraces are only used for dessert parties, which is why she looked so confused at the idea of having dinner there.) Marion actually left at this point and Rose came in. We finished the reception planning after I was finished with Rose, but for this report I will write Rose’s stuff a little later. Ok, so now we are working with a completely new reception. I started with the idea of the violinist again (this was before we listened to Bill), but you can only get them for 3 hours plus they take 20 minute breaks every hour. Translation, I would only have them from 6-7:30 for the reception which runs till 9. Marion suggested that I get a dj, but I was against this because I don’t want the whole dancing thing. She explained that if I only wanted them to play background music, that’s what they would do. Also, they would be the master of ceremonies announcing our arrival, cake cutting, and even announce last chance to use the bathroom. I would have to assign someone in my group to do this, or hire someone to strictly do that. I decided that it was the best to have the dj, and just have him play background music. The table talk was rather quick. We are having three round tables with a sweetheart table. She started asking about the toast and what I wanted. I told her that I wanted both sparkling cider and Asti. She is going to look into what kind of Asti they offer, and have me select from there list. She also asked about a blessing. I love this idea, and wrote down my brother’s name to do this. She also asked me about favors. I liked the idea of candy apples (really apples dipped in chocolate), and asked if I could even bring them in. They are technically a food after all. Marion said that since it was wrapped and meant for a favor that they would be allow. I told her to tentatively put me down as having apple favors. (Another side note here, if you don’t know for certain what you want they will put down TBD.) We now had a dessert party to plan. She brought in a dessert party menu list for me to look at. I have always had my heart set on the fondue so I got that, and I choose the Kid In You package. I really didn’t want have desserts, because I wanted everyone to eat the cake. Good news is that the cake will be in the parlor. We talked about having it outside, but she said that it would be easier for the servers to cut the cake in the parlor before the dessert party. I also asked about getting cake bags/boxes and hand them out to the guests. She told me don’t waste my money with the bags/boxes. They are really small, and you can’t put much cake into it. Also, the servers have a hard time getting the cake into them. She suggested that I use the small glad Tupperware containers. She said it holds a lot more, and it keeps it better too. Lastly we talked about the cake itself. She brought in the cake and filling samples to try. I was slightly miffed at the fact that the peanut butter cup and the red velvet cake weren’t on there. I had requested these, and they said it would be fine. Oh well. We started to dig in. I was really looking for the cake/filling combo that wasn’t chocolate. I first tried the baileys. It was super good, but had a coffee kick to it. I didn’t think a lot of people would like this so decided against it. I tried the amaretto next. Words cannot describe how good it is. I tried it with both the yellow and the almond cake. The yellow had no taste at all, and the almond had a faint taste that went well with the amaretto. We had our winner. I also tried the others just for fun. Let me tell you the chocolate chocolate combo is super rich. I decided the bottom and top layers would be chocolate with peanut butter mousse. The center layer will be almond and amaretto. When I mention the chocolate peanut butter mousse she asked if I had any guests with nut allergies. She told me that they use to not offer that at all because of the allergy, but they had so many requests for it, they put it back on the list. I thought the allergy thing was strange because she didn’t mention anything about the almond cake.

DisneyTrip028.jpg

The infamous cake try.

I had a picture of the cake I wanted, non Disney cake; and handed it to her. It is a fondant cake with sugar crystals all over it. I am going to have the castle cake topper placed on it. I had bought a cake topper already, but that was during the wedding at home planning. I will place that next to the cake. It is an acrylic square with M in it. She asked to keep the picture to show to the bakers to get there opinion. I gave it to her, but I am super nervous about this, because I have never seen a picture like it since I found it. Later I asked her if many couples change their locations, and she laughed and shook her head no. I always have to be different.

Here are some pictures of the American Adventure Parlor
