I have a AP so I don't get the MM. I did get a 7:10 ps for the Plaza Inn on one of the MM days. How do they handle it if you are done before the regular opening time? I would assume they have better things to worry about then whether or not I had the MM admission.

Thanks!

From what I can remember, they're not going to be checking your tickets when your done with breakfast. They DO walk you to the Plaza from the main gate, what you do after breakfast is your buisness. I think the average guest will have 30 minutes (max) of park time after breakfast before the park opens to the rest of the guests. Not to mention most people don't know this trick and I think they're cool with it.

That will be a good trick to try if you don't have a MM ticket when you finished breakfast at the Plaza Inn. I thought that you have to wait until DL is open at the original park time. That will be great to go in the park after breakfast before the original time even if you don't have a MM ticket and spend a few minutes in the park.

This is what I love about DISBoards! Just reading this thread gave me the idea to book a breakfast here when we do a one day trip in December with extended family. There will be eleven in our group and if I hadn't read this thread right now, I probably wouldn't have been able to book for a 7:10 reservation time. I don't know that we'll finish breakfast before MM ends, but I love that this will give the impetus needed to roll people out of bed earlier than they would have otherwise. We'll all be driving over to DLR from DMIL's house and I had envisioned a nail biter of a morning as I watched the clock ticking down minutes while people took their time getting ready. Having reservations will be a more concrete way of moving people out the door than talking up the importance of being there by park opening.

Thanks, Goofy Mom!

I have a very short solo trip - flying in at 4:30 pm & out at 6:30 the next evening. I figured if I could get into DL early for breakfast it would help. Hopefully I can get a picture of the castle without anyone in it. It will be interesting . I have never done a character breakfast by myself.

Be warned - if you book that early, you have to be at the gate about 6:45. Being by myself and being a very early riser, it will not be an issue but I could never do it with my elderly mother and sn daughter.

Thats what I love about the Dl board, lots of help and very nice members!

I figure I'll pad the time and tell the family that the reservations are for 7:00. ;) I hope it works to shoo everyone out the door, but worse-case-scenario is that we at least get there closer to park opening than I'm afraid would be the case otherwise.

I'm doing a solo trip myself next week (though I'll mostly be conferencing :sad2:).

I'm interested in finding out the answer to this! My father always splurges on 5 day hoppers for all his kids, and grandkids, but he has an AP. This means that he has to stay outside during the MM. If this is doable, it would certainly be an answer to his problem! I'll be looking forward to hearing about it.

Glad I could help!!! I'm going to offer up some more info reguarding breakfasts in the park. There are four (that I know of) The Plaza, Carnation Cafe, Riverbelle Terrace, and the bakery. Riverbelle and the bakery are counter service, no reservations. I learned that if you book a PS at CC on MM without a MM ticket it won't work, I've tried it. I asked the guy on the phone before I made the reservation. He said there will be a dedicated gate for PS breakfasts, just walk up to that gate and give the CM my name, the CM will verify that I have a PS and walk me to my resturant. Well, he was half right. There is a dedicated gate for the Plaza. When I pleaded my case and told them what the reservationist told me, a manager was called and I still had to wait for the main gates to be opened. So, to make a long story short:goodvibes, this trick only works with the Plaza Inn.

I did this last week. I had an 8:20am reservation for the Plaza Inn. I arrived at approx 8am and was told I had to go to gate 1 since I didn't have MM. They looked up my name on the reservation list. Gave me a Minnie and Friends button and then the CM at the gate just had to hit an override button to allow my AP to scan through to enter. I was not escorted to the plaza Inn. I took a few pictures along the way and entered the plaza around 8:10. I was a solo diner so my only issue was bugging everyone around me to take my picture. I hope they didn't mind and I managed to get my pic with all the characters and there were quite a few!:thumbsup2

Those of you that have an MM I Would NOT use it on the morning you are making a reservation. I would use the MM on a previous day and then do an early morning reservation on the next MM day so it is like a bonus entry but since you will be eating/interacting with characters you probably will start enjoying the park at the same time as everyone else entering the park but your bellies will be full and you will have had a wonderful morning!

I have never eaten at Carnation Cafe. I really want to do this on my next Disneyland vacation. Is this the place that has the person named Oscar working there? Is he the Chef? Doesn't he have a special that people say is the thing to order. Now an off topic question, (sorry about that). How late is breakfast served at the Carnation Cafe and is it necessary to call ahead. My trip is scheduled for the end of January.

I learned that tip from these boards and was so thankful for it! We always have 2 day hoppers, so no MM. A few trips ago we really wanted to do a character breakfast but didn't want to waste valuable park time. So we made the reservations for 7:10. We didn't get there too early, right about 7. There is a separate gate open for the M&F ressies, and there was not a line. Walked to Plaza Inn, had awesome food and awesome character interaction, and were out of there just a few min before 8- the time the park was open to the public anyway. We got to fit in our breakfast without losing park time, and got to enter the park without having to wait in line! A great day at DLR!
