I need advice from all you DL vets out there on how to do my PS for my upcoming trip. We will be staying at the GCH from July 31 through Aug 6, giving us five full days in the parks.

I am wondering that besides making a PS for Blue Bayou a few weeks ahead of time (for lunch), can I avoid making the rest of the PS and get away with making them during our stay. We would like to have some spontaneity/flexibility during our stay and not have every meal planned out weeks ahead of time. We arrive early on Sun. the 31st but plan on relaxing by the pool, doing DTD, looking at the other hotels. I am thinking of having our dinner at Napa Rose that night. But besides that, we really don’t have any idea where we will want to eat on a given day and would love to make the PS either the night before or that morning.

Any advice/thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Napa Rose shouldn't be a problem, but if you are interested in any character meals, or in the Fantasmic Dessert Buffet, those ressies should be made in advance (along with Blue Bayou!).

I am not too worried about Napa Rose either and plan on making the Buffet as soon as I am 30 days out. My concern is the rest of our meals. I know we won't be able to get to them all and we are trying to figure our the ones we do want to eat at. My DW and I are the types were we really don't know where/what we want to eat untill we are hungry, lol. Luckily we are also not that picky about eating, we just like to eat :teeth:
Also, it will be just the two of us so I am hoping that will be to our advantage when trying to PS on the day of.

I'm afraid it's going to be awfully crowded to wait to get your PS unless you don't mind waiting a long time for a table or eating at off hours. Early PSs are a necessity for character meals and Blue Bayou, but I think you are also going to need them for most DTD restaurants during peak hours. I believe I have had difficulties getting PSs for some DTD locations a few weeks out, and that was during less busy times than I expect early August will be. I'd recommend you make PSs soon; you may be able to change them or you can certainly cancel them later if you change your mind. Most restaurants don't require a credit card, so you don't lose anything if you are a no-show.

See you at the GC in early August!

It's great to be able to be spontaneous, but if you have kids and/or a large group, you'll probably need the PSs. We're also going in early August, and with the 6 of us (2 little kids included) I figured it made sense to schedule most of the meals. We're still going to be spontaneous with a few lunches - I figure we'll pack PB&J sandwiches for the kids since the adults are a little more flexible.

Hope this helps!

hi

since you're staying at a disney resort there's a great service that disney offers called "vacation planning" exclusively for their hotel guests - they'll make your ps reservations, answer questions, etc. - their # is 714-300-7526 and when i called they were very helpful!

i found out about this great service on these boards -what a wealth of info there is here! thanks everyone
