Sony is pretty smart.

TheGoofster said:Well, yes and no. Yes, they are creating more demand, but the fact is that Sony is losing money on every unit they sell. They will of course make up for it in software sales.
Now, Nintendo on the other hand is doing something that is almost unheard of, they are selling their new system (the Wii) at almost half the price of the other systems, AND they are going to be making money on every unit they sell - go figure.

I think those bidding on ebay are insane. We have a generation of people who need to have things first. "Instant gratification", no matter the cost, is the norm for everything it seems.
TheGoofster said:Pros of being the first to have the newest whatever:
You are one of the first to have it.
cons of being the first to have the newest whatever:
-You have to do insane things like camp out for three days in a thunderstorm to get it
-You pay only the highest normal price if your lucky, or you sell your first two kids to pay the ebay price.
-You find out that the new whatever has many bugs that aren't worked out yet.
-You never learn the value of waiting to get what you want (can someone say "I have 5 credit cards maxed out"
-In a couple of months everybody else has this same whatever, without having to gone through the torture that you did to get it (and the bugs are now worked out)
-Next year you are camped out again repeating the same process for the next whatever because you still haven't learned your lesson.
He will want the Wii, but not initially. He has learned a little patience, thankfully.BibbidiBobbidiBOO said:He will want the Wii, but not initially. He has learned a little patience, thankfully.
