Proximity of WL to FW Campground

I'm in the early stages of planning a trip to DW for myself, DH and three kids. I was looking at Poly or CR so we could be on the monorail, but now it looks like my parents might be going at the same time and they'd be staying at FW Campground in an RV. Should I think about staying at WL so we could be closer to them? Can you walk from the WL to the Campground? I've heard that the Campground is really spread out, so it might not even make sense to try to stay at WL. We won't have a car and my parents won't want to unhook the RV once they get settled, so we'll all be relying on Disney transportation. But, we won't be spending every waking moment together - we travel well together as an extended family...we'll be giving each other plenty of space. Also, I think WL only accomodates four people unless we're in a suite (which I don't think we can afford!) and we're a family of five.

I would appreciate any comments from all of you Disney experts out there!! Thank you!

Hi! We just got back from VWL and walked to FW one day- then rode a bike another day- I'd say a 20 min. walk with small kids. They said about a mile I believe. It wasn't a pleasant little ride due to the heat- about 10 minutes. I would either stay at CR or WL for the ease of the boat transportation. There is a direct boat between those FW, WL, and CR- but not to Poly. Those times were for the main settlement. We didn't get a look at the other sections. I think you would probably need to take an internal bus to most of the other area once you got to the boat dock or end of the trail from WL. We stayed at VWL and relatives stayed at WL- we mostly just met up at dinner, or at the park of the day instead of all trying to be ready to leave at the same time. Easier that way for us. Then it wouldn't matter so much which MK resort you were at.

P.S. the WL is a wonderful resort - it would be a good choice regardless of parents going.

Since there are 5 of you I would go with the CR. You can use the boat to meet up with each other for meals at CR, WL or FW.

I agree with Avalanche-although I would prefer the WL over the CR (just personal preference), with the family of 5 that would be your best bet to still have the convenience of taking the CR boat to the campground.

You can consider staying at the POLY and taking the monorail from there to the CR and then pick up the boat to FW if needed (this would take an additional 10-15 min on top of the boat time).

The WL is a little tight for a family of 5 (since there is not enough room for a daybed-you'll need an areobed), but it is a beautiful resort.

Thanks for the info, guys! I would love the WL, but since we have three kids and it's not THAT convenient to the FW Campground this probably isn't an option for us. I think we'll probably go with CR or Poly.
