Will be in Providence, Rhode Island tomorrow night for a few hours only. (probably between 7 to 11pm)
We both like Italian, Chinese, American and pretty much anything except sushi.
Somewhere near the Dunkin' Donuts Center or Providence Place? Anyone live near by with any suggestions?

Just giving you a bump. I was there last weekend but I only had time to stop at Subway.

If you have to take I-95 make sure you give yourself PLENTY of time. We ran into major delays trying on the way to and from Providence.

there's some really great places on Federal Hill.

Providence Place Mall has lots of restaurants - Fire and Ice, Napa Grill (I think that's the name), my favorite: Cheesecake Factory, Dave and Busters, etc. It's a quick walk to the DD center. Federal Hill is great for Italian food, all are pretty good. If you're closer to Prov. Performing Arts Center, "Downcity" is very good. Other options are: Al Forno (Italian, gourmet), Capital Grille (steaks, etc). and Hemingways (mostly seafood).

Lots of choices. If you're in a hurry, I'd head to Prov. Place if you have time (and money!) Al Forno is great (no reservations, long wait).

Thanks....some good choices. I'll check some of them out....

I've heard about Fire & Ice and Dave and Busters...are they all chain type restaurants in the Prov. Place Mall...correct?

My friend and I are dropping our two dd's off at the Dunkin Donuts Center for a concert, can we park in the garage near the DD Center and walk over to Prov. Place?

I suggested going over to Foxwoods, but it's a little too far ;)

Yes, they're part of the mall. Dave and Busters is inside (top floor) and the others are attached with access on the street level.

It's close enough to walk (go through the Westin Hotel and cross the bridge into Prov. Place). Parking isn't the easiest over near the DD Center, another option would be to drop off the girls and then park at Prov. Place ($1.00 with validated ticket) and then pick them up.

Yeah, probably a little too far (well you "could" do it but doesn't leave much time to win much!).

Providence has lots and lots of fabulous restaurants. Since you're going to be there on a friday night, there's a lot of traffic. If you're not familiar with the city then I wouldn't suggest driving around if you only have a few hours to spare

Capital Grill is great but a little pricey. Hemingway's has fabulous scallops, and Al Forno's "dirty steaks" are incredible. Cheesecake Factory and Fire & Ice are also good. The last few times I've been to Dave & Busters and Napa have been kind of icky.

Weekends are Always packed downtown, so be prepared for a wait. 90min wouldn't be unusual. Especially on a concert night

Thanks for all the great info...We went onto the Providence place website...found links to most of the restaurants that you all mentioned and I think Fire & Ice sounds really interesting...Pick out your food and have them cook it...we do not have anything like that here on the Cape, so something different would be nice.

(If we can get out of all the wonderful shops they have in the mall, we'll have time to eat!! There are lots of stores there, we don't have either. )
thanks again!

Providence Place is a really nice mall.
I love the le gourmet chef store and Oop!

Maybe we'll just park at Providence Place......we'll need the car nearby just to carry all our purchases!!! (Can you say...shop till we drop!:teeth: )

All the places mentioned above atr great. On our last trip we found this little store front on Federal Hill (recommened by a bus driver) called Angelo's. Nothing fancy, but some of the best Italian food going. ::yes::

Thanks ILUVDXL...I'll have to check it out...I like not fancy, but good!
