I originally added this as a reply to the Wishes sticky at the top of the board, but have decided it's not getting traffic there and created a new thread.

For 30 years The Greater Governor Mifflin League's Community Days has been held annually over the week including July 4th. The week concludes with a fireworks display on Saturday night, thousands attend each year.

This year almost spelled doom for the popular show as the school district is replacing the football field, where the display is launched, with astroturf. It's been speculated all year whether the fireworks would be part of the event beyond 2006, but it's been reported that the GGML is working with the school district to locate a new launch site.

This was taken with our Kodak C340 P&S in Fireworks mode, having had it resting on my knee for balance. I cropped it down to 4x6. The trickiest part is anticipating when the shells would explode, and then there's the wonder of what that shell will look like when it opens. One of the best of the night, which I'm quite proud of, was this:

That's amazing for not using a tripod. I tried fireworks this year without a tripod and they ended up all squiggly lines and stuff.

So great job!

Terrific! Looks like a bouquet of flowers. Very nice work!

Thank you. I was quite surprised to see that on the LCD and please that it looked as well when I uploaded it. I should have the print in my hands tomorrow, can't wait to see it.
