We were on a Homeschool field trip at the Atlanta History Center today. We had been there for 3 hours long hours of 19th/early 20th century farm life demonstrations. The kids were tired and hungry. There are 2 restaurants onsite. One a counter service place, the other a small but very nice high end restaurant that is very popular with the older ladies in the high income area around the Center. Several of the moms wanted to go to a local Amercan Bar type place (similar to an AppleBee's). 3 of us decided we didn't not want to drive in Atlanta traffic to a very popular restaurant at noon and wait for a table . We new the wait would be very long. non of us really wanted counter service (very limited menu) so we decided to walk over to the nice restaurant (The Swan Coach House) and take our chances. The hostess was very polite but you could see she was uneasy with a group that includedf 2 babies, 3 almost 6yr old girls and a teenage boy. Lunch went wonderful (we told the girls before walking in that they must use their library voices, eat with their silverware etc. One couple came in, and everytime one of the children would speak (in a voice much lower than the group of ladies near us) the man would roll his eyes and make faces. As we preparred to leave the Hostess, Waitress and manager all came over and complemented the children on how well behaved they were. The ladies really seemed to be making sure the man nearby heard every word they said.
