I eat 1/3 of what most adults eat so when its meal time i just mix protein podwer with water or milk so my question for American airlines what is the policy

It should be available right on the American Airlines website - their policy would apply to your carry-on luggage, you'd be fine packing your protein powder in any checked bags.

So it is 12 oz not bad it should cover easily two meals

Strange question

Lets say they make a emergency landing due to weather or what not and have to stay in a hotel over night with i have access to the luggage that i check and will i have to pay to recheck my bag

The above is unlikely but I have never bern stranded over night

You would probably need to call the airline to ask if they release the bags in case of an emergency landing/grounding where you have to get off the plane and stay overnight somewhere. Something like that is highly unlikely (speaking as someone who has been flying frequently for work over the last 2 years I have dealt with delayed planes but never an emergency landing), but if you ask they can put your mind at ease and share their company policies.

Can i claim protein powder as a medical necessity or am i pushing my luck round about way of saying i wont have access to my checked bags

Unless you actually have a prescription from a doctor for it, I wouldn't push my luck by miscategorizing it just for convenience. if you TRULY got stuck somewhere you could probably get some help from the hotel finding what you need at a local pharmacy. And again. emergency landings are SUPER rare.

So 4 days can go into my carryon that helps me feel better i know what i am worried about is super rare but you cant be to carful imo

When I race I carry all my nutrition with me in my carry-on. One of the things I carry for my bike nutrition is made from a powder mix. I have never had any questions or problems when going through security. If it makes you feel better, most of the major protein mixes make individual sized packs that have exactly what it is. I suggest purchasing those. You will have to purchase water or milk after you pass security if you plan on using this on the plane.

Sometimes, some airports will ask you to declare food & meds. Don't panic, it doesn't mean you can't bring them or that quantities are limited. If TSA wants a closer look, just let them. You've got nothing to hide.

If it is not liquid, gel, cream, or aerosol, it is allowed in carry on luggage.

This site https://www.tsa.gov/travel/security-screening/whatcanibring/all can answer many, many, many of the questions you might have about what the TSA (not the airlines, they don't have the final say) will and will not allow on a plane, and in which piece of luggage.

Are you required to use a specific brand of protein powder that is only available where you live? If not, protein powder should be available for purchase wherever you're going. If not, you should be able to order it online and have it shipped to your dad.

Thank you it puts my mind at ease, i would ship it too my dad but he does not know that i use protien powder if my doctor and i can reslove why my appetite is next to nothing he would not understand like my mom does

All TSA says is “Powder-like substances greater than 12 oz. / 350 mL must be placed in a separate bin for X-ray screening. They may require additional screening and containers may need to be opened. For your convenience, we encourage you to place non-essential powders greater than 12 oz. in checked bags.”

Doesn’t say you can’t bring it in carryon.

You are fine... you need to relax and enjoy your trip. You’ve been told several times you are fine... it doesn’t do any good to keep asking the question and worrying about it. Airplane size doesn’t matter- TSA rules are the same.

For a small plane, they will make you "gate check" your bag where they load it under the plane but will leave it for you to pick up after landing at the gate - it does NOT go to the baggage carousel. Or just keep the protein powder in your personal bag which fill fit under the seat (like your purse, small tote or little backpack) if makes you more comfortable.

You could move it to your personal bag when waiting for the last leg.

Have a great trip!

Why not just get the single serve pouches? These are least likely to be of issue.
And why worry what your dad thinks if you ship it to him? Wouldn't he want you to eat vs. go hungry? I'm sure you are concerning yourself unnecessarily regarding his reaction.

Only if it's 4 wheels or a 2 wheel at the max size.
There are still a lot of carry on bags that fit on a commuter flight.

Yes but the bag that can fit on the plane does vary by plane size. As someone who has to fly a commuter flight each time we depart from home I've learned a lot about what can fit on the plane and what can't. And having had them leave my personal item at the airport I watch it carefully.

If it meets the carry-on dimensions for the airline and one of the flights on a commuter plane I've never given it a second thought other than to keep my true valuables in my under the seat tote or purse. I'll often put my under the seat tote in the overhead after gate-checking the wheelie bag.

They literally tag while I hand it to them on the tarmac. Upon deplaning, people who gate-checked bags wait on the tarmac and are handed their bag.

My bigger concern is if there will be overhead space on a jet; if there isn't any then they will check the bag through to the destination for pickup at baggage claim. That only happened to me once, the tag they used didn't even have a bar code; I never thought I'd see that bag again!
