Protesters.....

Please don't flame me for this..... I am for the war bur I did protest against the 1991 Gulf War once. Let me tell everyone something about the protestors.... a majority who protest against this war also protest against globalization (what they protested in Seattle). They are against capaitalism and gentrification. Here are somethings they can't stand: Starbucks, cell phones, anything YUPPIE, suvs, pottery barn, microsoft, borders,barnes & noble. When they had riots in seattle during the WTO, these are the types of businesses they tried to destroy.

Though I am saddend by the protests and some of the methods used, I can not believe all protesters are like this. I think it is a faction of it and we should see it as that.


Though I do not agree with these protests, I am thrilled to be in a country where one can do so. I just wish they were more civil and more peaceful.

I am saying that they all don't behave like the ones in Seattle did, I was just saying that they don't believe in capitalism and such. I saw some of those protests- don't they know that people are less likely to listen to them if they act like that.

I agree with you, but I am saying that there are teachers, clergy, and others who will protest the war too...not everyone is like these people.

It seems to me (and just my opinion) that most of the protestor's are doing it for the "shock value" or because it's "the thing to do".

While I feel that the peaceful, non-disruptive protests are counter-productive, I don't have a problem with them.

It's the ones that are stopping traffic at a detrement to other citizens, tying up valuable police resources & commiting crimes that I believe are anti-American IMO.

I DO NOT AGREE WITH THE PROTESTERS, but isn't it ironic, that is the very thing our fine men and women of our outstanding military are fighting for...our freedom, our rights?

While I respect their right to protest, I don't think they have the right to block traffic during Rush Hour, which is what happened here on Thursday. They were warned numerous times by the Police to STAY off the street and stay on the sidewalks. They refused to obey and over 100 were arrested.
For anyone that was downtown that day, getting home was a real headache.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but I am against the war and I own a cell phone, shop at pottery barn, have microsoft products, am looking to buy an suv, drink at least 3 coffees from starbucks a week, and am known by name at my local barnes&noble and borders.

I might not be carrying a picket sign this time around, but I have been instead sending letters to my Congressmen to voice my dissent against the war. I am sure you will find most of the people against this war are just that - against war, and have no other agenda.

I think if you took a poll of Americans, you would see that 100% of us are "against war." Nobody is FOR WAR. There is a huge difference between wearing a Peace Button and getting on TV and bad-mouthing the President at a time like this. It's really easy to sit there on your couch and be an "Armchair President" and spout off about how you would do this and that and it would all be so much better. However, much like the quarterback you scream at to "Throw the ball!" you don't see what he sees and knows and we don't all know everything the President sees and knows. Plus, we're not all sitting here faced with his decision. I'm sure he's weighed his options many times...should I or shouldn't I? Can I risk not acting like Clinton did with Bin Laden? This is not a criticism of Clinton, that was the decision HE was faced with, he made his decision to the best of his ability and I won't fault him for that.

My problem is this: I see signs all around that say "War is Not the Answer" and I would expect the The Answer would be on the other side of that sign, but it's not. What precisely IS the answer? I'm sure Bush would be thrilled to hear The Answer since I seriously doubt he's at home eating pretzles (sent by the French, of course), watching this and laughing.

I don't care if people protest, as long as they don't get in my way, but I am really sick of seeing it on TV and I wish they would stop showing it now because the polls have shown that almost 75% of us don't give a damn about them and their signs and nobody listened, the war is going on, get over it and go home already. Your time can better be spent letting Bush know The Answer so we can bring our men and women home where they belong.

Can't be? No. But it is pretty pointless IMO to come out and say "This is the wrong thing, we can accomplish this in a different and better way", and then have no suggestion as to how to do it.

Complaining about the solution without offering alternatives doesn't lend alot of credence (IMO) to the complainers view.

Thank you AirForceRocks...that was what I was getting at. We're all against war, but most of us realize that the world is not a pretty, happy place. The UN, told him to disarm. In yet another resolution, the UN said disarm, or else. Or else...or else we'll just pass another resolution. Can you almost hear Saddam shaking in his boots?? He pays suicide bomber's families thousands of dollars to kill Israelis. He actually said that the Columbia disaster was God's way of "paying us back". He has it in for us (and Israel and who knows who else - maybe Kuwait again) and I, for one, am glad that our President has the you-know-whats to do something about it BEFORE it happens. Enough with the resolutions.

However, if you have The Answer, we would all LOVE to hear it. If there is some other answer than sending other people's husbands out into danger, tell us all here and then we can all pass it on to the President and get a real, productive campaign going. But, until then, I am going to continue to belive that Bush is doing what he believes is the right thing for our country (and, secondarily, the world) using all of the information he has available to him and his administration. Maybe he's not the sharpest pencil in the box, and maybe his Presidency wasn't gained the way it normally is, but he's not a rapist, torturer, murderer. He's not an evil dictator. You'll never find Barbara Walters interviewing three women HE raped and tortured. We all want peace and harmony, but the world just isn't like that in most instances. Some people you can reason with and come to an agreement, some you can't. He's one of the ones you can't reason with and he doesn't stick to his agreements. We can sit back and wait for him to make his move and, in the meantime, continue to torture his own people, or we can take an active measure to protect ourselves.

Not that I am saying anyone on this board is out there holding one of those signs comparing Bush to Hitler or saying Bush is the biggest terrorist, I'm just making a general statement about the particular protesters that are bothering ME. Those take the cake and they don't deserve to be shown on TV anymore.
