Pros/cons re: moving trip up by a week ??

Ok, I've been thinking today about trying to move our trip up by a week in order to qualify for the summer discounts at the DLH. We currently have a reservation for 8/14-8/20, and, of course, the summer discount ends the day before we would arrive.

If we were to move the trip up by a week, to 8/7-8/13, I would save a good chunk of $$ with the summer discount. We haven't bought the plane tx yet, and it's the same price either way, as of today.

When I originally set aside the dates, we were going to DLR at the end of a longer roadtrip. The roadtrip portion has been postponed until next spring, but we couldn't cancel DL!! I would have a mutiny on my hands! Not to mention, I would be heartbroken. Anyway, I had planned to just miss the unblocked AP's the week after we would be there. Moving up by a week wouldn't mess that up. And either week, it would still be busy and hot - not much difference there, right?

I just wanted to check with all of the experts here to be sure I wasn't overlooking any huge drawbacks to changing my dates. I know I could keep the same dates and hope for an extended special to come out before then, but I think I would kick myself pretty hard if nothing good came out. Any thoughts?

I don't think it would hurt to move it up a week. In fact AP rates are lower earlier so you probably will get lower crowds and rates that week.

Thanks, Skiingfast. That's pretty much what I was thinking, too. I'm just waiting to double check the vacation schedule in the office, and then I'll probably switch over.
