I only have two weeks to make my decision, and I am very hesitant, as I would never apply for a fast food job anywhere other than Disney. I was very hopeful for another role, and now I'm scared to accept 7 months in a job I might hate! Help me weigh the options please :)

I did QSFB. Pros- I loved my location (I was inside all day), I loved getting to see the parade/fireworks everyday, the costume was cute, I liked the people I worked with, the menu wasn't too bad.

Cons- the hours could be crazy (I worked at the MK), at times it could be extremely hectic, the restaurant was very small so it could be very tight

Ooh, where did you work? I want a cute costume :)

I saw you posted that you had wanted BBB and got QSFB, and I'm the exact same. haha. I worked for over a year at a place called Sweet & Sassy ((literally BBB + teaching girls silly dances to Hannah Montana songs)) and work at Chuck E Cheese right now. Basically all kid jobs, all my life. Stilllll didn't get it. It's ridiculous how they choose people for that.

I accepted QSFB anyways. I did Custodial last time around, and it was amazing. I'd always heard good things about it, so I tried it and loved it. I've heard it's much better than QSFB. I just want to try something different.

But yeah, you'll probably have a cute costume no matter what doing Quick Service, unless you're at DAK. They're pretty atrocious. haha.

You accepted QSFB? Where do you think you'll end up working? Maybe we'll see each other :)

I see a lot of people saying "AVOID MK." Do you agree?

I guess at this point I'm just hoping for a cute costume and maybe a fun-themed restaurant. Something. Any tips to make me feel a little better? :)

Oh, and thanks for the answers so far!

Even if this is not the "role of your dreams," the role in not nearly the most important part of the program as long as you can tolerate it. Yes, it is not a vacation and you do have to take your role seriously but no matter where you are you will meet tons of co-workers and guests you love, in one of the coolest places to work. Don't pass it up solely because of the role! I saw someone else post this advice on here and it is really good...either you go, hate your role, and are regretting it for 4/7 months or you turn it down and regret it for the rest of your life.

I'm in merchandise, but my roomates are all qsfb. so ill answer with what im told and have observed.

Not that it's a lot, but you make more money in qsfb than in other roles..you get free drinks (food too maybe, in the beginning and throughout possibly). You don't have to stay and stock for 2 hours like merch. does.

I would say accept the role, like the previous posts encourage. I know youre thinking, its like mcdonalds level, but really, there are no "glamorous" role for us cp's besides maybe friends of mickey (but even then youre stuck in a heavy outfit sweating heavily.)

I think the interviews they do are absolutely bogus anyway haha so im not suprised you did all that work at Sweet and Sassy and didnt get the BBB role... although a lot of people do apply to that position and there are very few spots so it happens...

I dont think they actually care about what you really want when you do the interview and talk to them... they only care to hear if you are a weirdo or socially awkward when you talk to people...
i say this because my last program QSFB was my last choice... when she talked to me about it on the phone she said "what do you want to do here as a role?" i said honestly ill do anything but QSFB but i will do it if necessary haha i had training in custodial so i told her i would like to do that again... she asked me why i didnt want to do QS i told her it was because i had never worked with food before... and also because i had never worked with money as far as being a cashier before and working with lots of other peoples money makes me nervous... so... naturally she puts me in QSFB i guess she thought that since i didnt want to do it so much she should assign me the role lol... i doubt there were a million people chomping at the bit to do Custodial and i was already trained seasonal haha... whatever

with all that being said... DO ACCEPT QSFB is great job at disney and the pay is better than most! and if you get in a park like animal kingdom you can work nice and easy 6 hour shifts most of the time haha it is nothing like a typical fast food place... its faster! haha besides if you tell people you are working in a theme park most of them assume you are mickey or selling something anyway so who cares!

also .. inperfectclouds was right about DAK costumes... i was deployed to flametree BBQ for three days... this was my costume.. you can see the girl behind me in the blue laughing... and the girl in front of me is my girlfriend she couldnt even look at me while we walked to the pool party... haha i didnt have time to change and the party was in vista i live in chatham...

HAHAH. Awesome. I only hope I get something freaky like this to wear.

I think I'm going to accept! I have to work stuff out here at school, but y'all have definitely eased my mind :goodvibes

My son wasn't thrilled either about QSFB, he worked at the amphitheater for 5 seasons (concerts like Warp tour, Dave Matthews, Kiss, Kings of Leon, etc). I thought he would be perfect for attractions at Hollywood studio, he got QSFB.

In deciding to accept or not my son and I had this conversation:
Me: "If you take and not like it, you'll may regret it for a semester, but if you don't take you may..."
Him: "regret it for the rest of my life"

Something to think about.

I talked to my recruiter yesterday on campus. I will most likely be either at ODF ((Outdoor Foods- carts, etc.)) at DHS, or regular QSFB at a resort. Either one I think would be a lot of fun. She works with recruiting and is stationed IN Orlando, so I'm pretty much banking on one of those as my location.

I did Custodial at Magic Kingdom, and it was awesome, but that's really the only role I think would be fun there. haha. It is just SO busy. Non-stop wherever you are, almost all year. Custodial had so much freedom to walk around, and I was able to stand still and watch every single parade and fireworks show, but when you're Merch or QSFB or something, you don't have that - and that's why I loved MK. So I definitely don't want to lose the magic by working there and going crazy. I've heard Columbia Harbour House is fun to work at, but that's the only MK place I've heard really good things about. ODF at any parks is going to be a lot easier than a counter-service restaurant as well. If you get your recruiter's info and want to call and request a specific location or something, you can do that.

I feel a LOT better after requesting the locations I did. I know DHS doesn't stay open nearly as late as MK ((which is really refreshing)), and my boyfriend requested a DHS Attraction, so we might be in the same park again. And resorts are just fun in general.

@inperfectclouds
you are so lucky...

my roomate was odf at hollywood and he still is part time now... the reason i say you are lucky if you get odf there is because they do it differently than all the other parks...

at epcot we get our own money... every morning we get a bank of about 400 bucks and we keep it with us all day... we sign in with it we sign out with it no one can use a register if our money is in it and we are responsible for banking it out at the end of the night... because of this when you are assigned to a cart you stay there ALL DAY so it gets old...

at DHS you dont get a bank... you dont have to stay at the same cart for more than a few hours and then you move somewhere else because they use the CDS at epcot we dont use CDS... you also share cash registers... and the GTs do all the banking out at the end of the night so you dont have to do that either! at EPCOT we had to do EVERYTHING ... you are still responsible for your money if you are over or under they just determine it based on when you sign into your matra...

lucky lucky lucky

If you do QSFB at MK, you make 75 cents to a dollar more per hour than what you would make at other parks or resorts.

I loved being in quick service! I was at Port Orleans Riverside and while like every job it had it's ups and downs, I wouldn't trade it for the world. I met some of the greatest people I've ever met there and we really were like a family. My best friend on my program and I arranged a "Secret Santa" event among all the CPs at our location during the holiday season. It was a lot of fun watching everyone get really into it and try as hard as possible not to give away the secret of who they were going to shop for. Work itself was sometimes crazy busy or crazy dead. Being in a resort, the weather had a lot to do with how busy we were, as well as the times the parks closed. I can't stress enough that I loved it. Yeah, there were days when it drained me, it's the nature of the beast. There are days when I wanted to stab people in the eye with a french fry when they said "no, I don't want a hamburger, I want a cheeseburger with no cheese!" but you look past it all. If I didn't say yes, I wouldn't have regretted it for a lifetime.

My S could only choose between 2/7 & 2/14 to check in. Is that because of QSFB or another possible reason?

they open and close different arrival dates for people to give everyone a fair shot at each date, but this late in the game it could be that the earlier arrival dates are filled up.
