Pros & Cons of on-line check-in?

Pro: if you are assigned a good room, it's locked in and no one else can steal it.

Con: if you are assigned a less desirable room, it's also locked in and you have little hope of changing it (which may be the case anyway as more and more guests are online checked in)

Sometimes you can online accept and there's a problem and you still have to go to the front desk.

Pro: Should facilitate your arrival and check-in to make quicker and easier
Con: Some think it overrides previous requests made for room locations. Others think it is of little benefit since check-in is not an overly long process as it is.

As long as you skip the request section of on-line check-in, previously made requests will not be affected.

Michael, thanks for that info. I don't do on-line check in because I have yet to see any real benefit to me. Maybe if I was going to arrive late at night it might be helpful to hold a room but we have never had a long wait for regular check-in so I haven't seen the benefit.

I see no cons.

Hasn't been true for us yet, and I've been doing online checkin since our first trip in 2010 (yes online checkin has been available since at least then).

Some think it overrides previous requests made for room locations.

Only if you make requests during online checkin that don't go exactly with what you've already requested.

Your original room can be stolen up to the time that they text you the room number.

Since we have only gotten the "room's ready" text once out of our last several stays, I guess they could steal our room even longer! Fortunately, we don't care a whole lot about room locations or views...we just want a clean one upon arrival with everything in working order. :)
