Pros and Cons of Multiple / additional DVC resort point locations

We have owned VWL pts since 2001 and love it there! When we 1st bought in, we wanted BWV(in fact, waiting on ROFR for a re-sale of BWV right now, will share reason soon) but all the pts selling direct were at VWL. Our guide asked us when we typically like to be in WDW, early Dec. was our answer. She told us VWL was wonderful esp. in Dec with all the decorations. So at the time, Dec was our annual trip, but then we wanted more. SO we bought more pts and expanded our times of times of travel. I share this to let you know your vacation habits will probably change as ours did. So, here are my thoughts on the matter...

Buy where you want to stay most, understanding 11 mos is big certain times of the year. And what accommodations, studio, 1 bed, 2 bed or Grand Villa you feel right now you will be staying in most.

VB and HH, I cant speak much to these since I have never stayed at either, just bear in mind, these dont allow 11 mos on any WDW DVC resorts. Pts are reasonable IMO and I think you can book fairly easy certain times at 7 mos.

Aulani and GC are other off property choices, pts higher, less chance of getting at 7 mos, again, no opinion, since we have never been to these.

OKW, big, fairly easy to get at 7 mos., pts low in comparison to most. We love OKW for its roominess in 1 beds, atmosphere and savings in pts.

BWV, would love to stay here during F&W fest and single reason we are buying pts. Waitlisting to stay there during that time, impossible. Pts for standard are reasonable

VWL, love it in Dec, smallest of all WDW DVC resorts, tough to get under the the 11 mos window in Dec

BCV, another tough one to land during F&W fest, and during warmer mos because of awesome pool

SSR, seems available most times as its big

AKV, its another big one, but not as easy to get at times like SSR.

This is just my thoughts, nothing intended to offend anyone.

My advice, buy in where you really want to be the most as its going to always be your first choice. I personally wouldnt buy several small contracts, as it would limit me from having a longer stay at a particular resort.

I agree with everything you said JT! We like the above resorts for all the same reasons you guys do too :)

I think having multiple home resorts is great, but you need to make sure you have enough to get where you want to stay for longer trips if that's what you like. Otherwise, you will be always forced to do split stays. if you like that, then thats great! We don't mind every once in a while, but i don't want to have to switch resorts every trip.

We own 120 at AKV and are waiting for 125 at VWL to load into our account. For as much as I want to add on to BWV or BCV, I know I need at least 75-100 to make it worth our while and financially, that just isn't in the cards right now. We'll eventually get there though!

Thank you all for sharing your experiences and wisdom.

I have been gone for a day and a lot of good info.

Location and enough points for the room you want is key. Thanks!!
