Proposed reservation changes -- impact on camping?

Please dont let this topic turn into long term vs short stay debate!! We all want the same thing.....an enjoyable stay at one of the best campgrounds.

I don't see anyone here turning this into a long vs. short term stay debate. Everyone here respects everyone else, and we all want to have good time at FW, no matter how long or short our stay is! :goodvibes

Now, let's get back to talking about the peacocks... I mean golf carts....I mean refillable mugs.....oh, nevermind......you know what I mean!!

:rotfl:

Now Rhonda, you know it's supposed to be about the sudden proliferation of smoking peacocks! Those regular peacock discussions left months ago!

Of course you never saw the Fort at it's capacity at that time, that is one of the slowest seasons (if not THE slowest) seasons at Disney. This won't affect extended stayers during this time because the rates will already be low since it is not in the peak season.

If anything, you will see MORE extended stayers during this time because of the abundance of lower rates (at least until late February into March)

:confused3 :confused3 I think you are confused on peak season. The higher rates go into effect on February 14, which is the beginning of peak season. Sure would be nice if peak season didn't start until "into March".

That's why I said late February (although I should have said mid February since it's the 15th). Late January/Early February is not peak season, in fact, it's value season with the lowest rates.

I also thought that it was not fair that some were paying the value rates through holiday season.

FW does not allow value season rates to extend into the holiday season for campsites. You can only make a reservation for a maximum of 30 days at a time so even if you booked a campsite on November 15 (the last day at the value rate), the most you could get it for was 30 days. Your value rate would expire on December 14. So there is no way you could get a value rate for a campsite during the holiday season which starts on December 20.

Had an internet problem for a second.

I also was going to say that most of December is during the pre-Holiday season (which is just above the Value season and only a few dollars more). I would think that most campers coming in December long term would stay through mid February, because other than the short holiday season, they will be paying value/pre-holiday prices, which are the lowest available.

I think you will start to see MORE long term campers in January and February because of this.

When we booked last Christmas 06 we booked in value and stayed thru Christmas and the value carried thru the whole stay. When we booked the CM stated that " I have you booked starting value and going thru Holiday, lucky you, you get to keep value rate"

I started a thread about this a few days ago. That I was unable to book at preholiday rate and carry thru for the rest of the holiday. I had to make a second reservation at holiday rate. Anyone else going this Dec. (2007)during mid to late Dec.? What season rates were you quoted?

We are going mid-december and were considering extending through the holiday, but not pop century, not FW. I will probably ask my travel agent to check on this for me and I'll let you know. At the moment we check out Dec 23rd and there was no rate change. Could just be a campsite thing, or it could be that they're starting early with reservations made after a certain time.
