Proposals at US/IOA?

I'm new here, but have been to Universal and Islands of Adventure a few times now. Not to mention Disney more times than I can count. This summer my boyfriend and I are going with my parents to US/IOA as my birthday present. We're all booked for everything, and my parents have decided to pay for all but our two plane tickets. What they don't know is that my boyfriend has decided he wants to officially propose to me while we're there. I only know because he knows that I'd have a heartache if he suprised it on me without some sort of hint. Some background information- we're both in college, with at least two years left, and we know we aren't going to get married until after graduation. we've dated since freshmen year of high school and my family LOVES him. No question about it.
My question is this- he's looking for ideas of good places he could do it, as i'm very shy, as is he for that matter, and don't want a ton of people around if possible. Is there anywhere in either of the parks that is somewhat secluded but still "pretty" or whatnot?
Also, I know that the hotels on property have been known to do something "special" for birthdays, anniversaries, etc. when they're not busy, and that it is in no way something to expect, but I know my parents, and they're going to make a big deal if we do end up engaged while we're there. Has anyone had the hotel do anything? We won't be old enough for champagne, so they wouldn't do anything like that. But again, I'm not expecting anything, I'm just curious.

Thanks for any help! And I can't wait to spend more time on the boards!

If he's going to propose at Universal, you definitely should watch Mallrats together before you go! Some quotes from the movie off IMDB:

T.S. Quint: I was going to propose to her.
Brodie: Where?
T.S. Quint: The Universal Tour.
Brodie: You're kidding. What part?
T.S. Quint: When Jaws popped out of the water.
Brodie: That's the most romantic thing I've ever heard.
T.S. Quint: Too bad I'm not trying to marry you.

Seriously though, I've never been on a romantic (i.e. non-kid) trip to Universal, so I don't know. I would probably pick the area behind the Jurassic Park discovery center overlooking the water. It's pretty quiet and has a nice view. Have fun!

What about in the Garden of Allah near the short cut to Kid Zone? There are several beautiful spots on the different hotel grounds.

ok, first , CONGRATS!! i know it hasn't happened yet, but that is great news! :goodvibes
now, with that out of the way, I STRONGLY reccomend the Portofino bay hotel - the grounds are amazing - and perfect for pictures :)

I think the area in the Port of Entry near the lagoon that faces Jurassic Park is a romantic place. Hardly anyone hangs around that area!

Maybe I'm weird but I would have just loved it if DH had proposed to me on Sneetch Beach - imagine telling your grandkids that :rotfl:

How about having a nice meal at Mythos and doing it there (you could ask the server for a discreet table ;) )

I second the idea of Portofino Bay. Somewhere on the Piazza. If they have the music going on while you are there, that would be romantic. Perhaps your BF could tip off the band as to the occasion and you could have That's Amore or something playing in the background.
