Is there any way to arrange a "surprise" proposal in the Wedding Chapel at the Grand Floridian?? My daughter's boyfriend would like to propose to her there, but the gates are usually locked and you cannot walk up to the chapel usually.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

sometimes, during the week, it may be open. you can always go look. however, sometimes it is open to prepare for weddings and for rehearsals. there were some look loos when we had our rehearsal who were pretty clueless and while theoretically a proposal there would have been sweet and a nice thing to see, unless it was totally low key and between 2 people that would have been really annoying. i think it is less "accessible" and photo friendly from the outside given the DVC build up there. my sense is that trying to pre-plan and arrange extravaganzas isn't something DFTW/WDW will assist you with (especially if you are thinking hiring a photographer or something like that), but he could call francks and see if he gets a helpful CM on the line with pointers. also, just going over there under the guise of poking around would yield plenty of moments (assuming no wedding is going on - and there is a board somewhere near the walkway that lists the weddings for the day), so you could be along or watching with a camera and there could be some nice places outside with the pavilion in the background or something? i think you can also find among the WDW pins at many of the resorts more wedding pins and there might still be a current one that has the WP on it which would also be a cute souvenir. a solid plan would be to have you or family or whatever running support in the background or heading out a bit ahead and just scouting the location for weddings in progress and seeing if francks is open and then just asking and then have a plan b or c outside and around for a pretty location. the doors at francks and even the gates to the WP are pretty unto themselves and there is a photo spot on the outer path around the WP that you can see the castle from etc.. so even if you don't get "in" it's all pretty. as long as you don't face the parking lot.
