Proposal ideas- Fantasy

Please make sure your soon to be fiance is into public proposals before you plan something really public. Some of us would be mortified if it was in public.

You beat me to the punch.

OP - are you absolutely sure that an "out of the ordinary" proposal is what your soon-to-be fiancee wants (and has dreamed about since he/she was a small child)?

Speaking from experience, my then girlfriend (now wife) knew that a proposal was coming (we had already picked out the ring) but she didn't know when - I was told in no uncertain terms that a public proposal would result in an embarrassing "no".

Maybe you could get one of the "fairy godmothers in training" at BBB to help you out. Seems like a fairy godmother could make a very "fantasy" proposal...just a thought...

oooh!! :coffee:
Love this!!!!
I can think of so many ideas!!!
What about as you board the ship when they are taking your picture? maybe whisper to the photog that you want lots of pictures and propose and get it all on film! Or at one of the character meet and greets?

I LOVE the scavenger hunt idea. Maybe enlist the help of some FE folks to assist?

There are so many neat places on the ship and Castaway Cay - but I agree with the person that said to do it early so you aren't stressing about it. I am sure once you get onboard you will find the perfect spot. Good luck!!!!

But I will say, having photos is would be amazing!! Who doesn't want to remember the most important question in their life??

I agree have Shutters/DisBoard cruise mate there to get the photo, that would be perfect. :thumbsup2

I am wanting to propose to the significant other while on the fantasy coming up. Something out of the ordinary would do. Memorable is what I want. I have no reservations anywhere. Looking for subtle but quirky. Pirate day? Port? W/ a character?

What would the DisBoards Do? WWDbD?

YZFMoose,
Any news for us? a Happy Update perhaps

You can go to the beach(or somewhere on the ship) and you can find a message in a bottle (something you or someone else plants). The message says " will you marry me"

12 days until the cruise! I was thinking of the phone hide and seek as suggested earlier! :D as we are Cdn, and cells = long Distance charges. I may play it with walkie-talkies. :P Any Fantasy on the 19th? 7night western Caribbean-ers reading this?

You could get the CM who sells the on board booking to help you... get your SO to go with you for a talk about booking something else. Get her to offer a 'special' on honeymoon cruises, then you can turn to your other and ask if that sounds like a good plan???

Personally, I had a restaurant proposal once (read anything public) and I said yes to him, not because I wanted to marry him, but because everyone was watching. I couldn't turn him down like that. So it took 2 weeks, but I did break up with him after that. What's important about the proposal is the moment between each other, not how public it is. My DH proposed to me in a hotel room after his sister's wedding and after I'd taken off all my makeup and was ready for bed. That was meaningful because he had a ring and it was just between us.

Oh yeah, that reminds me, don't wait too long. Looking back, I think it was all DH could do to control himself through his sister's wedding and reception (he didn't want to take away from her day) until he could propose. But I didn't know why he was acting kind of weird. It did cross my mind that he was going to break up with me. So, you know, it's best to get it over with... assuming you're pretty sure the answer is 'yes'. A 'no' and a whole cruise to go could be awkward.

Oh! Anyone know if they would they announce "the future Mr. and Mrs. YZFMoose" as you get on the ship? That would be quirky and cute.

@Figments just an FYI - this is a really old thread (2years 10months) and it looks like the update was that they she said yes back then and got married onboard within the last year. ;)

And I am glad that what you thought might be a break up turned out to be a proposal!! And without MakeUp - that's awesome!!

Ah! I was rushing to answer before taking the kids to activities. Well, good! Congrats to the happy couple and all that. :)

Thanks for the heads up.

Just noticed this is an old thread but it can still be useful for ideas...

Here's mine:

Book Remy... And in between dishes, when(or if) the violonist comes --which makes the atmosphere perfectly romantic-- propose at that moment.

Or

They always hide dishes under silverware. You could ask them to write "Would you marry me" on a plate amd then when the servers will "present" the dishes, she'll be very surprised.

Tell the servers in advance!

I've always said if someone is going to do something public - or expensive - they better be pretty sure s/he will willingly say yes. I worked in reservations in a hotel that had honeymoon packages people would sometimes use for anniversaries or the occasional proposal. One guy had been obsessive about his package - even though he'd booked the top tier room in the package and had double checked everything, he'd call about every other day leading up to it - and then was doing things like adding flower delivery, etc., etc. Well, the big night came and she said no. My friends who worked the front desk said that he looked pretty pitiful when he was checking out early, alone - the bell stand had already called a taxi for her and she was long gone.
