Anyone ever heard of a property protection fee before when renting a home at Windsor Hills? I have 2 houses in mind and 1 owner included it in the price and the other owner says they have never heard of it.

Thoughts?

It could be another name for a damage/security deposit that most owners charge and is refundable as long as there is no damage or it may be a smaller fee for an insurance policy that some owners use to do the same thing .

This is my guess. Unlike the security deposit, this is usually not refundable.

I think it really depends on which management company an owner uses. The standard seems to be the Damage/Security deposit either paid up front or as a credit card authorisation - this would be refundable providing no damage occurs. The Property Protection fee is as already stated, an insurance policy that the owner can claim on if any damage is caused, so the premium will not be refundable.

I always pay it when I rent a home as it protects me from accidental damage. Never ever had a problem as a result.

Does anyone know how much? We are staying here in Nov we booked thru Story time Rentals Townhouse #3

$75 to add it on. But again, the other house I'm looking at hasn't even heard of it and they require a $500 security fee (refundable if nothing is wrong).
