Proof a little one remembers

My DDs remembered a lot about trips they took when they were little closer to the time they happened (like at 5 or 6, they had pretty vivid memories of our WDW trips from when they were much younger). They did some of the cute things people have mentioned on this thread that showed they remembered. As time passed, the memories got less distinct and some of the things they had remembered vividly had faded to the point they didn't remember them at all by the time they were teens.

Totally logical. I didn't mean to imply in the original post that she would remember forever, just that she does now. Heck, I can't even post a signature line with my trips to DL and WDW because I can't remember where I went in which years!!!!

I was so thrilled that my girl reacted favorably a month later, that I thought I'd share! So many people get a version of the "Why are you wasting your time going to Disney when s/he won't remember it?" question from family and friends...

I've been enjoying reading everyone else's stories. Maybe our little thread can help balance those questions for others trying to decide whether or not to do a trip with a small one.

I went all digital for picture taking this last trip and the 700 or so pictures run as my screen saver, so my son is always running over to the computer and talking about what he sees and remembers. It helps all of us remember and reminisce, not just the little one!

My DD was 14 mos the first trip we took to WDW. About 6 mos later, my step-mom found a sing along vcr tape with the characters on it. DD loved it. One of the scenes on the video showed the castle at the end of Main St. DD pointed and said "I been there". So yes, they do remember!

I have been told I am crazy for wanting to take my 2yr old to WDW, since he will not remember - I have found tons of useful information on these posts, but this one is a real helper! I know my son will have a great time and my DH and I will have a blast too. My son has a good memory but I thought I was just being a proud mom Thanks again!!! will let you know all about it

Wow! We're staying at POR in October, too!! Not taking DD this time, though. This is Mommy and Daddy's chance to bring home a little souvenier...

And RoRo...I see you're a Gymbo fan, too! Isn't the new capsule line gorgeous? LOL!! "I will not go to Gymboree. I will not go to Gymboree..."
Maybe if I say it enough I'll actually start to believe it!

LOL!!!!! I am addicted to Gymbo. I alctually just got the skirt that your DD has on in your signature pic on clearance this weekend along with a few other things. Shhhhh don't tell DH. Well, she has to have some cute new things for WDW in September!!!! I don't know who is more excited DD or me. We both take great joy each morning taking a link off the paper chain.

My younger DS is 3 1/2 ans autistic but he sure as heck remembers all our trips to WDW!
We have annual passes (it's only a 3 hour drive for us! 4 if traffic sucks.) LAst time we went to WDW he proved how well he remembers it. He also showed us how much he loves WDW.
I had the suitcase out and ready to get packed in the minivan. We were just getting a few last minute things together. My DS tried to put on his shoes and failing he simply put on a pair of mine. He grabbed the handle of the suitcase (it rolls) and started dragging it to the door. I chuckled and asked him where he thought he was going and he looked at me and clearly said "Di'ney, Mick Mouse!" LOL! I about died laughing.
Earlier this month we went to see my hubby's family out of state. Our route took us past WDW on the FL Turnpike, and when e passed it my younger DS got very fussy as he realized we weren't going to WDW.

Mine remember. We've taken them several times now, but when they were about 5 they started telling us about the trip we took when they were 3 1/2.
I know everyone thinks they were repeating, but WE didn't even remember what they were talking about until they started telling us in detail! Well, as much detail as a 5 year old can handle

The first time we took my second son he was 2.5. Of course we talked about the trip afterwards, but he never really brought up anything un prompted, so I figured he didn't remember anything, which was fine with us because we remember what he loooked like. Anyway his 2nd trip he was 4 and we were in Country Bear Jamboree and he leaned over to me and whispered, " I remember now, she comes down from the ceiling." This was way before the movie came out and besides it was not something any one of us talked about from the first trip. So they just may surprise you with the odd bits of things that they remember!! '

LOL, I was thinking the same thing about Gymboree when I saw your pictures too! I am a Gymbo addict too and can't wait for the 21st to spend all 6 of my Gymbucks!!

I too am a Gymboree addict. I have been an addict for 18 months and dd is only 11 months old. I have 10 gymbucks. Love this line...can't wait!!!

Just today as we were driving in the car DD5 asked me if I remembered "when Chip drank my soda. I was really mad that he did that." That happened at the Garden Grill almost 3 years ago! She remembers things that take me a minute or two to place and they aren't things in videos or pictures. She doesn't know it yet but we're going back in September to make some more memories!

My daughter was able to say, "I want Disney" by 14 months of age. She'd been on two trips by that age.

She jumps and claps when she sees WDW commercials.
