Did you go to your high school prom? Was your date a steady BF/GF? And did that date eventually become your spouse/S0?

My HS prom was held in a local hotel ballroom. The drinking age was 18 at the time, but the prom was alcohol-free. That didn’t stop many from going out to their cars for liquid refreshment.

My date was a guy named Brian in my friend group. We dated casually a few times but were never a couple. I lost track of him after we went to separate colleges.

Hiring a limousine was unheard of in the Stone Age. He picked me up on his parents’ Chevy Monte Carlo.

After the prom some people hosted private parties. We went to two, then there was breakfast in the school cafeteria from about 4 to 6am.

Prom was Friday night. After sleeping most of the day Saturday, The Thing was to go to the Jersey Shore. We went to Lavalette, near Seaside Heights. I still don’t know who actually owned the house. I think it belonged to the grandparents of one of the students, but I’m not sure which student.

I went to the prom with a guy I worked with. He was 20. He borrowed his brothers car because it was nicer than his, and left my flowers in his car. A bunch of people met at my house for pictures, then we went to dinner. The prom was in a banquet room at the airport. Afterwards we went to a classmates house, then a group of us got donuts and came back to my house. In the morning we went to church. ☺️

This guy wanted to go out after but I wasn’t interested. I felt bad but what are you going to do when you are 18?

I went to my prom my Senior year . I went with the bestfriend of a guy I was interested in, to make him jealous. My date was an utter bore. He didn't like dancing!!! I spent most of the evening in the bathroom talking with my girlfriends about the boys. Weeks later I did start dating the guy I was interested in......those were the days! :teeth:

RedAngie.....my date's name was Brian.

Junior prom...I had broken up with my boyfriend maybe 2 months earlier so I went with a very nice guy that was a friend of my friend's boyfriend. Didn't really click but it was an okay night. Was in the cafeteria at a local college (was actually very nice. My wedding rehearsal dinner was actually in a side room off of that). Had a band.

I changed schools so smaller town. Senior prom was in the gym...they had an ORCHESTRA. Sounded fancy but wasn't as fun. My family was moving into a new house that day so was very chaotic. Went with my boyfriend. I think he had something crazy going on that day, too. We went through Hardee's drive thru (busy day). We dated in college the next year but broke up. Knew it wasn't going to last as it became evident we had different directions we wanted to go in. Right choice though.

I went to prom with a group of friends. My date was a guy friend I had known for years. I started picking up vibes that he was interested in dating, but I chose to ignore it and just make sure we were never alone, so he wouldn't confess his feelings. I didn't want weirdness in the friend group.

While in the middle of graduation party season, we found out that we were third cousins. That squashed any romantic ideas on his side.

Yes I went to my prom. I was dating my boyfriend almost 3 years at that time. Yes we got married and still are! We rented a limo with two other couples. Prom was at the Waldorf Astoria in Manhattan. Hit a few clubs afterwards and had breakfast at my high school. Then a bunch of us went to Great Adventure in NJ for the day.

Always have great memories of that occasion.

I did go to my senior prom. And I did end up marrying my date almost 10 years later. Still together—now married almost 26 years. We went to mine one week and his the following week as we went to different high schools. I wore the same dress—that isn’t done anymore. My middle daughter is a senior this year and knows a few girls going to 2 proms and they are purchasing 2 dresses. I loved my dress so much I was glad to wear it twice.

Mine was held at a Country Club. I was just back there again in the fall for a sports banquet for youngest DD. Hadn’t been back there in almost 35 years. We double dated with another couple and the guy in the other couple drove. We went to dinner beforehand.

DH’s was at a downtown hotel. Middle DD’s will be at the same location this year. We were in a large group and rented several limos. Dinner was part of it. We went to an amusement park the next day.

I went to senior prom with my now husband. It was at a restaurant hall.
We had been dating for about 5 months.
After, several friends went to the airport (large international one) to just walk around.
We got married a couple years later and still are almost 48 years later.

Yes, high school prom date was high school sweetheart, and we married the next year. Married 8 1/2 years , then divorced. I can't remember if ours was in the school gym like all the other dances. I think it was actually at a different location. Over 30 years.
DD just went to hers last weekend with a group of friends. So glad she went, had a good time, even w no date

Junior prom went with boyfriend. His school had prom the same night, so we went to dinner with my friends and my school's dance, and his school's post-prom event in which he mostly abandoned me so I played blackjack all night because I knew the parent running that was a friend of my dad's. I didn't know anyone else.

Senior prom I went with a foreign exchange student that was in my friend group. But the night before I had my first date with DH. He offered to go to prom but I already had a prom date and he would have been too old to attend anyway.

I took a friend from another school, in 1985 everyone took limos, drove down the shore after, seaside maybe. I found out he passed away several years ago. Ironically our school signed a lengthy contract with the venue (Mayfair farms in NJ) so my two oldest had their proms there too.

I went to my prom with my girlfriend. We dated from sophomore year through the end of high school. Technically, we didn't break up when we went to college, but she went to Notre Dame and I went to school in Ohio, so we only saw each other during breaks (and occasionally called each other). I met my future wife in college and had to come clean with HS girlfriend that I had met someone else. It was all good - we were friends for years after that. She even came to my wedding.

Prom... Nope..

The group I hung out with wasn't really into this type of school thing... So one of the kids, parents let us use their barn for a party, and dance... Country band, bbq, dancing, some games, it went on all night, and then breakfast that morning... It was really fun... We did the same thing for graduation night...

I went to the party with my high school boyfriend... had a blast together the summer after graduation... and then in the fall, we both knew that our time together was at a close...

I went to prom with my somewhat steady boyfriend my junior and senior year. He was a year ahead of me. We broke up several times over the course of 3 years. I broke up with him for good a few months after graduating after I had met my future husband. We’ve been married over 40 years.

I went to my senior high school prom with my girlfriend, before the relationship ended. A year following graduation I went to another senior prom with another girl at another school. My best friend was dating her best friend, so we doubled. That prom was so much better!

That sounds awesome actually

I didn't go junior year, but did go senior year. My date was a friend of a friend - sweet guy, had a lovely time, but it didn't turn into a relationship or anything.

The prom was in the high school gym, and we went out to dinner before - I don't recall exactly where. I do remember he borrowed his older sister's red Fiat.

My date's parents were way stricter than mine, so he had to be home directly, while I went to the after-party, then breakfast at another kid's house (the two sets of parents coordinated that, I think). The next day, we had a huge class picnic.
