Its my DD prom night tonight and i don't know who is more excited, me at seeing her in a dress or becs about going. She has had a long black dress with embroidered petals all down the left side, and is wearing diamante accessories. she has had nail extentions and someone is coming to do her makeup. The best part is the limo can't wait for that to pull up outside!! She will look so feminine instead of slopping around in her usual jeans and tee shirt. The down side is they are all coming here to get changed aahhhh wish me luck!!!

I think it is fantastic that they are getting ready at your house as you will be a part of her special evening and will get to see all of them in their lovely dresses. Make sure you take lots of photographs of her before she leaves.

My sister has her prom this year after the GCSEs have finished in late June.
its been held at a posh hotel at Manchester airport and all her friends are renting a limo..on the day of the prom she is getting her hair done at a salon, she has not got her dress yet..however she best get a move on with it as I've seen lots of teenage girls eyeing up gowns recently at the trafford centre.

I am looking forward to helping my DD sort out her prom for next year. It is so hard to believe how quick they have grown up, and I too look forward to seeing her all glammed up

I hope your DD has a lovely evening, and you too as you seem so excited for her. Make sure you take lots of photos, as this is a very special time in her life :)

try and post a photo afterwards if Becs lets you ;) Would love to see the her in the dress, I never got to have a prom but they do seem to be more common over here now,

How exciting - hope you and your DD enjoy the preparations (and that she has a great time!)

How lovely :cloud9: They didn't do proms when I was at school :sad2:

I changed school in year 11 and by the time I started the new one all the tickets were sold out :(

You must post a pic up of her in the dress, it sounds wonderful!!

I hope you have a wonderful evening. All this talk about girls though - has anyone had boys go through it so I know what's in store for me!!!

My brother had a prom, he hired a tuxedo with a red bow tie and he and his friends rented a limo like my sister is going to do. It is less expensive for a boy to go to the prom as you don't have to worry about a dress, hair, and make up. I think most girls would prefer to buy a dress while with a boy you can just rent a tuxedo. We took pictures of my brother before he left.

One thing I have noticed is that the girls and boys go in seperate groups and just meet up when they get to the venue.. My sister told me know one is going with a just a date, just as a group of friends.

There are actually 3 girls and 2 boys going from here tonight all good friends unfortunately their one male friend couldn't go his mom wouldn't spend any money on the limo or his ticket still takes all sorts!!! the one boy is tall and blonde and is wearing a white tux with a red dickie bow he will look great.

My 2 DS's have their prom tonight and I can hardly believe that they are going to be going. Two years ago when it was my DD's prom it was a case of "Don't expect us to go to that rubbish when it's our turn" and now here we are. Mind you they have put their own individual spin on it, especially James who is wearing a genuine 1970's pale blue tux and ruffle shirt.

I don't think for a second that thye are going to take tonight seriously - it's a chance t get together and hjave a laugh with their friends but I am still going to be really proud when they are all dressed up and ready to go.

KEH they don't go to the same school do they? My DD goes to summerhill in Kingswinford.

No, Deedee, different school. Just a coincidence that their prom is tonght too.

I managed to get some photos and will see if my daughter can help me post one.

No mean feat to even get one taken; what is it with teenage boys and cameras? I think we will look back at photos in the future and wonder if they even lived here for their teen years.

I heard on the radio whilst driving home that this guy has hired a helicopter to take his daughter and some friends to their prom, fancy! :thumbsup2

Last night was so exciting for Bec they had a really great time. This is a photo of her with her best friend Aimee Bec is the one in the black dress
I am new to this so not sure if it has worked.
