My daughter started seeing a guy from another High School a couple of months ago. His Prom is this weekend and hers is next weekend. They invited each other to the prom.

It just dawned on me that I think she needs to buy him a Boutonniere for tomorrow. Is that correct? It's her first time with this so it slipped right past us.

When our kids went to prom, the girls got the boutonniere and the guys the corsage. If they are wearing the same thing to both proms, maybe make some silk flowers???

At our prom, the guy is responsible for their bout and the girls corsage.

She ordered one today and will be able to get it tomorrow. I'm so glad I thought of it. She hadn't realized and her guy hadn't said anything.

Yep, guy buys the girl's corsage, she buys his boutonniere in these parts too.

OP, hopefully your daughter is wearing the same dress to both proms.

Younger DD went to two separate proms, but she HAD to get two separate dresses. Nobody other than her and her date were at both proms. Nobody would ever know she wore the same dress twice. But I was told that I "just don't understand." :rolleyes1

She is wearing two different dresses actually. Found them both on super clearance, so the total was like 85. One was actually last years spare so she already had it.

My daughter went with her boyfriend to his prom last week. He bought the corsage and it came with his flower to match. They should match so it makes sense to order them together. Maybe call local florist and ask what is the "norm" for yor area?

Usually girl buys the boutonniere and boy buys the corsage. It is something they should discuss so they match.

They don't really have to match

to me those who match the dress to the boys tie and match the flowers are getting too picky .....

My niece went to prom last year with a boy from another school. They went in a group of 10 -4 of the girls were from my nieces school. One of the boys had parents who were living overseas and he was staying with family friends who were unfamiliar with prom traditions. We were all invited to pictures at one of the boys house. The boy whose parents were over seas didn't realize he needed to buy flowers for his date. As we were eating the snacks and visiting, one of the dads excused himself~ I thought to go to work. He rushed to a local florist, quickly purchased flowers for the girl and dashed back before the kids got into the limo to go. He quietly gave the girl the flowers when he thought no one was watching. I had tears in my eyes. I found out he was the superintendent of my nieces school, his son was one of the boys in this group. I overheard him say to his wife- I just couldn't let one of the girls do without....... That being said, my daughter went to prom at her boyfriends school and he paid for everything except his boutonnière. Next month they will go to her prom where we will pay for everything except her flowers. He and his parents offered to share the cost but I felt like it was only fair...... My daughter is developmentally delayed and a special Ed student, her boyfriend is on the spectrum-I cannot tell you what joy it brings to me to see two awesome young people participating in such a typical high school rite of passage!

Ugh! Wasn't sure about flowers...not everyone does them @ homecoming.

Dd asked a friend from another school to hers tmrw. And since I found it too awkward to ask who is supposed to pay for flowers I didn't order any.

It may not be too late to get something. Do you have a supermarket with a flower kiosk? They may be able to make one up or sometimes the one by us has some pre-made on dates of big dances in instances like this.

Ordering a bouttonierre today should be no problem. DD ordered one a couple months ago for snowcoming and it was $11 at the top florist in the area.

bout takes about 10 min to make- many will even take a Sat order
I guess everyone we know is "picky" then because all of the couples matched the vest/tie to the girls dress and coordinated flowers....

Not every couple goes matchy- many of the Moms order the flowers and really don't know what color the other is wearing- many go white to be safe:flower1:

I had not even thought about flowers! And no clue if they are matching everything. Her dress is a peachy pink. Bless his heart if he is able to match it just right!!
