Project X event - Illuminations Dessert Party (06/18/05) (DATE CHANGED)

OK, I will be the first negative nelly. No need to "flame me" as they say on these boards. DW and I strongly object to this business of "special areas" for viewing illuminations. If you pay an admission fee, you should be entitled to choose ANY area you like. If it means standing there for an hour before the show, so be it. This idea of paying extra to stand in a good spot stinks like yesterday's diapers, as baby Herman would say. Back in the late 80's before Disney came up with this big money maker for them {charging extra to get the prime viewing spots}, all you had to do was get to your spot a half hour to 45 minutes ahead of time.to claim your piece of real estate. Any thing else seems wrong, IMHO. Alright, time to knock the negative nelly, go ahead, I can take it! :earboy2: ::yes:: :confused3

PS: I do not consider the Fast Pass system to be unfair, as you do not pay extra to use it.

Hi Mitros!

You're fully entitled to your opinion so I'm not sure quite why you're expecting to be 'flamed' :)

My only suggestion would be to 'strongly object' to this business of special areas to the people who actually created the system (and can change it) rather than the people who choose to take advantage of what is offered :)

We will be in WDW during this time frame and are definitely very interested.

Hi Penny. Well, I know that on occasion, one can be "flamed" for having a lone negative opinion about something on some of the threads. Anyway, yes, I have made my opinion known to the powers that be at Disney, but I just received the usual "Disneyanswer". You know," Oh, we are sorry to hear of your disatisfaction, and we will let those in the proper department know of your feelings". I am only expressing my thoughts on the matter and was not 'strongly objecting' to what you are doing. I thought my smileys gave that away. Sorry if I gave the impression that I was upset with your plan. Here are some more to make up for it: :grouphug: :flower1: :sunny:

so excited...just booked my flight..couldn't pass up $59 round trip from Jersey...to anyone going out of nj, spirit airlines out of Atlantic City has great rates..

can't wait, can't wait, can't wait for more details...

Hi again Mitros

No worries - I did understand what you meant and that it wasn't aimed directly at me/us. Like I say, you are perfectly entitled to your opinions and I can totally see your point of view - seriously, no offence was taken :)

Minijeanie - Yay! That's a really super deal on your air. I really must start thinking about my flights, I just need to get Christmas out of the way with first - now if only I could get my transatlantic flight for the same sort of bargain you did (relatively speaking of course) I'd be happy!

Hey Penny,

I like crispy crispy squares!

Hey Trekker

My particular reference this time though was something of an 'in joke' for any DVC DIS'er who attended the Member Homecoming back in the summer - they had Crispy squares at their luxury dessert party...now don't get me wrong, my other half loves Crispy Squares too - in fact it's one of his WDW 'traditions' to have one from MGM or MK each trip :) It's just not what most people would expect to be described as a fancy dessert - I know I certainly have something a little more decadent in mind for our party ;)

Oh...and forgot to badger everyone to tears - don't forget to register for any of these events if interested!

Ok everyone - I'm giving this one last 'bump' before I start to sign the contracts...this should happen this week and means that I'll be opening official registration and taking deposits probably at the weekend.

However, at that time I will initally only be opening registration to the people who so kindly helped me get an idea of numbers and Pre-registered for the events. Everyone who has joined my mailing list should receive an email from me with instructions on what to do before I announce it on the boards. This is to ensure that these guys have the best chance of booking their place on the events that have a maximum capacity (Adventurers Club and now, because it's getting so popular I may limit the Illuminations Dessert party too - don't want us all crammed in there like sardines...kinda defeats the purpose of having a special area in the first place!) - so...if you want to be have the very best chance to book your places, it's not too late to still Pre-register here! Remember, to be fair registrations will be on strictly first come-first serve basis.

So, just to recap, the events that I have information up for so far are the our Illuminations Dessert Party and the private event at the Adventurers Club. Backstage tours info has now also been added, as has the outline proposal for an after park closing Safari Dinner at Animal Kingom. :)

Also, I have just had it confirmed that we will be allowed to buy Disney meal vouchers in advance - obviously you will have to partake in at least one event in order to qualify for these and the vouchers will most likely expire either end of June or end of July. I'm just waiting to get a confirmed list of all the places these can be used at - once I do, I'll post more info.

Thanks everyone :)

Just a FYI. The registration mail was sent late yesterday afternoon and everyone on the mailing list should now know what they need to do in order to pay their deposits.

If you think you should already be on the mailing list but didn't receive the email, or are interested in attending any of these events but haven't already pre-registered then send an email to projectx@wdwinfo.com and I'll get the info back to you by return of mail.

There is a maximum attendance limit on both the Adventurers Club and Illuminations Dessert Party and therefore places will be offered on a strictly first come, first serve basis based on when the deposit payment is received.

Have a great weekend everyone! :sunny:

Count me in, probably three of us. I don't know my husband's schedule yet. It will be myself and my children (14 and 12).

Penny,

Well I registered a few weeks ago and got my packet last week, but unfortunately we've had two snow days this week, so school won't be out until 6/20 at the earliest, so I guess I need to 'unregister" How's the best way to do this? (Figured I'd ask here in case other people want to know) I'm really bummed, but at least for my planning and yours it's beeter to know now, than to end up with those sometimes freak March and April snowstorms that might have resulted in the same outcome.

Anne

Please note - I had to swap the dates for this event with the Animal Kingdom Safari Dinner. This means the Illuminations Dessert Party is now on Saturday 18th June and the AK Safari Dinner which will almost certainly be the Grand Gatherings one will be on Sunday 19th June.

The date change is okay with us, but I do have one question for you. Do we have some idea of the time frame for the Dessert Party? That's our arrival day and I'll be making PS in a month or so and don't want to have to rush around too much that day. So, what time (ball park) would we be due at WS?? Thanks.
