Project Runway

I was happy with the final 2 designers. However I think it is wrong that one of the designers followed the advice of the judges from last time, and then we called out for being disjointed and not themselves.

Not surprised by Ashley winning, but it's not who I would've picked.

Her collection was cohesive. I liked several looks, the 3 dresses (teal/blue/purple) were really nice and worked on a full figured woman. I was with Heidi, the romper was awful. I also thought the finale dress was ugly -- I didn't care for the glued on flowers (although it went with theme) and the cape was not flattering.

Edmund (who I originally wanted to win) just had a bunch of dresses. Dude, whip out a pair of pants! There was no story. Although I disagreed with the judges and thought the white dress was a show stopper. It looked cool although I'd never wear it.

Candice, she watered it down too much. It was plain. I would've liked to see the show she wanted. I feel bad the judges got in her head. Although I agree with the judges too much leather. And was it just me, the model who walked in the red pants/black bustier look scary skinny. Oh man all I saw was her, not the clothes.

Kelly! I think she should've won. She was true to herself. She went for it and the collection was fun. Who would've thought a wood panel fabric with matching fanny could look so cool!

So disappointed. I fell asleep and didn't see the final runway for Ashley. I thought her dresses were awful. I can't believe that she won. We should have known after the judges fell all over themselves at the last critique. I think any of the other designers deserved to win over her. I wasn't crazy over Kellys stuff just not my style but I thought the other two had some great designs. As I said I didn't see her final runway show so maybe the outfits were better than what I saw originally, but I don't think so. Just extremely disappointed.

Ashley's collection was horrible. Her models just did not look good. Those outfits were not flattering at all, except for the teal dress which was very pretty, and her headpieces were tacky. I turned the tv off with the distinct impression that Project Runway was trying too hard to make a statement by picking the plus size collection over the best collection.

I completely agree with you that Project Runway was trying to make a statement with the plus size collection. I did not care for Ashley's at all. She did some good things during the season (and most of it was early in the season), but she lacks confidence, and frankly, is a cry baby. Her first model out on the runway couldn't even walk properly -- not that that's Ashley's fault. She had some okay, even pretty pieces in her collection, but she did not deserve to beat Kelly. I really was shocked.

Glad that Candice didn't win, if just for the fact that her ego could be taken down a notch. Even if she hadn't toned the designs down as much, I still don't think she would've won. Edmund, while I'd wear a lot of what he put down the runway, there just wasn't anything particularly special or wowing about it. He is a great designer, though.

Just disappointed in the outcome.

Kelly's look isn't my style at all but she should have won. I could see a lot of hot young singers wearing her clothes at the VMAs or in music videos. I think her collection would sell and would be referenced in as being worn by some celeb in gossip mags which is key to becoming a hot line among young people these days. I think Edmund had some lovely red carpet gowns and he could make a living designing dresses for women who are going to charity galas. His clothes weren't innovative enough. Candace's leather stuff I've seen at million goth stores and the cropped bustier looked way too trashy for Fashion Week. The floral dress looked department store. I'm plus size and wouldn't wear most of Ashley's collection. I seriously questioned her taste level because what she wore to present her collection wasn't flattering. I always wonder when designers can't dress themselves.

Ugh, just watched the finale. Kelly definitely should have won, IMO. If they want to showcase plus sized fashion, they should have all plus sized designers. It wasn't a fair contest since it seemed like they were going to vote for Ashley no matter what.

I have to say I thought it "interesting" that they asked her ahead of time if she wanted to do a plus-size collection. Names escape me now, but she is not the only designer to come through PW that wanted to dress "real" or plus-size women. The fact that they gave her that extra opportunity that others haven't had before stuck out to me.

It definitely felt like they had an agenda to have Ashley win. I just feel bad for Kelly who I think would otherwise have been the winner.

Yes, it seemed like they were running an agenda. Last year they rewarded the guy with all the fringe ... this year it was crop tops ...

I give up, my last season after hanging in there for 14 seasons.

In an interview with I think Entertainment Weekly, Tim said he was underwhelmed this season and that they didn't seem "hungry". He said he wasn't able to be at casting this season and regrets it because he would've picked better designers.

I've been avoiding this thread all day until I could watch the show. I'm plus sized and I still think Kelly should have won. I loved her collection and it was really ALL HER. Ashley's collection still looked like it didn't fit well ... the romper had some camel toe and the shorts kept on riding up the model's thighs. PLUS, her models walked like moose instead of runway models. Couldn't they find some plus sized models who knew how to walk? Oh, and I hated the flowers on their heads. I do have to giver her kudos to her (I assume) sewing the model with the broken zipper into her dress.

Both Edmund and Candice had some really great pieces but their collection was not cohesive, especially toward the end of their collection. It was like they were trying to hide the weaker pieces at the end.

OMG. I just looked at Swapnil's collection. That would have blown everyone else out of the water!

I haven't seen it yet, but I'm not surprised. He had it in him, it was obvious. He just shot himself in the foot trying to stay in the middle of the pack.

Edmund had some very pretty dresses, but I don't think he really had a cohesive collection.

Candace's collection included a lot of different things, but it didn't look like a collection either and I think she got scared and removed too much of what made it her.

Kelly's collection was very much 'her' and was a complete collection. It fit nicely and I could see it on a lot of young people.

Ashley's was cohesive, but for someone who supposedly specialized in plus size clothing, she doesn't seem to know how to make it fit. Many of the tops were bad and that romper was awful.
I didn't like her finale dress. I thought it looked more like a costume then anything someone would actually wear. I also didn't like that she threw midriff tops into almost every look. The one kind of fuschia/purple dress was a beautiful color, but why makes the skirt sheer and make the poor model show what looked like fuschia granny panties?

I agree and think Kelley was robbed !!!! Ashley's first outfits were really nice. But then her construction was just plain awful, like she wasn't really trying anymore! I agree that Ashley won as a statement of jus how PC they are on PR. If any of the other designers showed up with so much lace, mother of the bride designs, they would have been let go a long time ago, not to mention the poor construction issues. I hope next season is up to par!

I forgot about the other sheer skirt with granny panty - the aqua one.
I also forgot that besides the ill fitting romper, she also had a badly fitting shorts outfit.

And, if anyone else had a finale dress with a sheer top with a badly fitting satin bra underneath, the judges would not have been happy.

I would have been happy with either Kelly or Ashley. Candance and Edmund were all stuff you see every fashion season. Either one of them could have done better and had done better in the earlier challenges. At least Kelly and Ashley were doing something that was not the norm. The only thing I really did not like about Ashley's work this season, was her palette. I dislike the colors but the clothes themselves where interesting, and could still be 'dumbed' down for ready to wear which is what 80% of runway wear is. Very few people are wearing stuff straight from the catwalk or couture. Mostly it is idealized on the runway then altered to be worn by the majority of the retail customers out there. I probably would have gone Kelly before Ashley but considering I've hated abut half of the previous winners I'm okay with this.

That has been a problem for PR in the past--they seem to decide who they want to have win, and go with it. Who was it that had the hideous prairie style clothing a few years back? You could tell she was going to win, even though she was not the most talented by far.
