~Project Runway Season Season 8 Thread Spoilers Welcome~

Does Jessica Simpson smile?............:):) not seeing it.............very boring what comes out of her mouth......

Even though it was a bit too grey, my favorite was Andy's collection. I also liked Gretchen's, but didn't care for Mondo's.

Speechless. So angry. Apparently creativity is not appreciated anymore! I think the reason she won is her stuff will probably be more saleable on Piperlime.com. It's not high fashion or creative, but people would probably wear it. Not me, though. Team Mondo all the way!! I would LOVE that skull tunic-- beautiful!

NUTS!:sad2:

I so wanted Mondo to win. And I loved his look.:cheer2:

Gretchen didn't deserve to be in the final THREE!! She definitely did not deserve to win. My DD kept on asking tonight: "Who's going to win?" and I kept on saying "Mondo.". Boy, was I wrong.

I liked Mondo's the best, and then Andy's and Gretchen's last. I had not been posting to this thread like I usually do ... does anyone have a link to Michael's collection? I thought that he should have stayed and Gretchen booted last week :sad2:.

ETA: Nevermind ... I found the link to Michael's collection. I love that long dress with the layers

ETAA: Yikes! Maybe not on the dress. I just noticed on runninggirl's link that the top is transparent!

Here you go. Michael C's

I hated G's shorts. And the dull colors were, well dull. I liked several of Mondo's and really liked his colors.

I honestly do not know who would wear Gretchen's shorts/underwear. She sent out 3 pairs of those things out of 10. I have to think about the restaurants that have the sign about no shoes, no shirts, no service and then wonder whether you would get service for wearing something that looks like underwear.

So disappointed that she won. I actually liked Andy's and there were a few tops that I would have bought. But really feel that Mondo was robbed.

Still in disbelief that the style of 60's hippie is considered in style or cutting edge now. Guess I won't be buying Nina's magaizine....or any of Michael Kors clothes.

I think the winner was all about ratings and next season. They have changed networks and need the drama to get the viewers back for the next season. Gretchen was so controversial and so disliked...people will tune in just to see if the story arc is the same.

I don't think I will watch anymore. Even with my DVR, the show is too drawn out. And I totally disagreed with the judges on most episodes.

For the fans out there, Go April! Who would you wear...

I agree with what Heidi said about sending mixed signals. The things Nina and Michael had praised Mondo for week after week were the things they were using against him. Gretchen did not deserve the win. As a PP said she should have gone home last week.

I liked Gretchen's collection (with the exception of the granny panties) and thought it was more wearable than the others', but I didn't like Gretchen. Mondo was a great guy, a nice person, but his stuff was kind of silly. The skull tunic was so Ed Hardy. It's been done to death. Michael made lovely, high-end cocktail dresses for evening wear.

I think you are right about it being more sellable, but I don't have a problem with that, if the show and the sponsors are going to invest all this money in the winner they should make money on the collection. It seems like this year they wanted the winners designs to be sold to the masses. (I don't recall that being the case before?)
As for Mondo, I think he is a sweety and he had some beautiful pieces through out the competition, but his collection looked like it was made for the carnival. I was rooting for him to win because I liked him so much, but his designs are too out there, and this year they were looking for more mainstream and sellable. Maybe after all the complaints they will get back to picking winners who design high fashion collections. I would consider Mondo's that since it something you wouldn't see people wearing in Anytown, USA

Ok you guys all know I don't care for Gretchen, but I did like her collection. I do think it was a tough choice. I almost dozed off during Andy's show. And even though I love Mondo I was kinda really looking forward to Andy's I just thought he would have been more dramatic or show stopping. so that was my biggest disapointment of the night. I watched part one again last night & I think Michael would have put on one Heck of a show.

I totally agree with you.

I am so angry.

First, how could Heidi and Jessica have ANY credibility as judges when they were so poorly dressed themselves! Heidi in endless red with her pants pockets peaking at the hips ... hideous. Jessica: the peep sleeves are not slimming on your arms and the neckline sloped your shoulders ... sad, sad, sad, fire your stylist NOW!

Second, after kicking Michael C. last week for focusing his collection around one color ... ugh Andy and especially Gretchen seemed very monochromatic. Also, isn't the Fall show about Spring styles ... not Gretchen and Andy.

Third, I have to agree with Heidi, after weeks of choosing Mondo as the winner during eliminations, they chose not to look at his 13 weeks worth of clothes and focus on the "bubble" long dress only. Nina and Michael DID influence Mondo by praising his earlier garments.... then they pull the rug out because he chose to show HIS favorite dress which both Jessica and Heidi loved ... I also hated that they said they didn't want to follow up last season's winner Seth Aaron with another whimsical designer - HUH!!! Then don't put him in the finals!

Maybe Gretchen won a couple of the eliminations but I always felt that her competition in those weeks was lacking. I thought her styling for the show was awful ... hated the oversize sunglasses (sure they are popular right now, doesn't make them flattering) and I hated the bright pink lips on many models that did not seem to flatter the models or the clothes. I hated the shiny black whatever jacket, hats and shorts ... detest the crazy knit panties (I even hated the black sheer hideousness that Grethchen wore herself.

Finally, I was incredibly proud of Mondo for the way he handled his loss. He was dignified and gracious.

That's it for me. Last season I watch PR... it is now just too manipulated. Gretchen was not a nice person. She did not deserve to win. I'm guessing that the $9000 she was given to create a collection went to bills, it wasn't on the runway. She will never be able to work within an organization because she does not have the skills.

It seems like every other year they have always choosen a winners collection that was more "runway" like Mondo's and not "off the rack" like Gretchen, I have no idea why this year all of a sudden that changed.

Nina and Michael praised Mondo week after week and then ended off not picking him for the reasons they were praising him. (just like Heidi said) They also mentioned that some of Mondo's pieces were too young. If they were looking for the collections to target a specfic age range, then they should have said that.

I am very disappointed with this season, with the exception of maybe a few weeks in the beginning Mondo was by far the best designer. It just seems like they picked Gretchen because everyone expected Mondo to win.

Late joiner here.

I am disgusted by the choice of Gretchen winning. Mondo was the clear winner. Gretchen was always in the middle, safe, fine, boring. Mondo took chances and learned.

The fix was in! Heidi should have stood her ground and proclaimed Mondo the true and clear winner.

Now, I have lost interest in next season. The real winners lose and the pity party wins.

I really like Mondo and if we were voting on personality, I would have put Mondo and Andy well above Gretchen. That said, I liked Gretchen's collection the most. No, I was not a fan of the granny panties and there were certainly a few other things I didn't like. But, as a whole, I thought her collection was by far the strongest and, yes, the most sellable. I think both Michael and Nina made incredible points about Mondo's editing. Because of the horrible hats and bows and the styling, for me it made it harder to look at the clothes as a whole and how they would be worn in real life. It did push the looks over the edge into costume, and he has been told that along the way. I was also not a fan of the day of the dead styles, especially using the t-shirt look twice, I really didn't like the metallic painted leather worn with the bubble shirt and while I loved the bubble dress and the plaid cocktail dress, for me that is not enough to give him the win.

So true! We were wondering what the judges said if one of the contestants had sent Heidi's outfit down the runway.

I've hated everything Gretchen has done and can't stand her as a person. With that said, the judges have loved her and I had this fear she would win. If there is any justice in the world, Mondo will go far because he is a sweet soul and won't because Gretchen is a .... not a sweet soul.
